Ephesians 2: 8-10.

Joseph Dongell, professor at Asbury Theological Seminary, states " the most conscipuous feature of Ephesians 1: 3 – 2: 10 is the phrase ' in Christ ', which occurs twelve times in Ephesians 1: 3 – 4 alone ... this means that Jesus Christ himself is the chosen one, the predestined one.

The New Testament verses typically referenced are Matthew 26: 30 ; Acts 16: 25 ; Romans 15: 9 ; 1 Corinthians 14: 15 ; Ephesians 5: 19 ; Colossians 3: 16 ; Hebrews 2: 12, 13: 15 ; James 5: 13, which reveal a command for all Christians to sing.

Ephesians ( Book 5, Chapter 2 )

Ignatius is known to have taught the deity of Christ: He stressed the value of the Eucharist, calling it a " medicine of immortality " ( Ignatius to the Ephesians 20: 2 ).

In Justin's works, distinct references are found to Romans, 1 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Colossians, and 2 Thessalonians, and possible ones to Philippians, Titus, and 1 Timothy.

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them ( Ephesians 2: 8-10, NKJ )

* Other terms identified with Satan include " the prince of this world " in the Book of John 12: 31, 14: 30 ; " the prince of the power of the air " also called Meririm, and " the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience " in the Book of Ephesians 2: 2 ; and " the god of this world " in 2 Corinthians 4: 4.

The UPCI emphasizes that salvation is accomplished by grace through faith in Christ ( Ephesians 2: 8-9 ).

This interpretation is based on several passages from the Christian Bible, notably Ephesians 2: 8-9, which reads " For by grace you have been saved through faith.

* Salvation Through Grace ( Ephesians 2: 8-9 )

However, following a suggestion by Tertullian, that Marcionite heretics changed the title, Harnack suggested that the canonical epistle to the Ephesians is this lost letter.

Pentecostals are continuationists, meaning they believe that all of the spiritual gifts, including the miraculous or " sign gifts ", found in 1 Corinthians 12: 4-11, 12: 27-31, Romans 12: 3-8, and Ephesians 4: 7-16 continue to operate within the Church in the present time.

" It concludes with a quote from Paul's letter to the Ephesians: " Now to him who by the power at work within us is able to do far more abundantly than all we ask or think, to him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever.

The Jews are regarded as special in God's plan ( as in Romans and Ephesians ) and yet the Old Testament prophecies regarding Israel find their fulfillment in Jesus and the Church rather than in a literal restoration of Israel.

Christian Science teaches that we are not Christians until we " go and do likewise ," until we in some degree " come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ ," as it says in the Scriptures ( Ephesians 4: 13 ).

Many scholars also doubt Petrine authorship because they are convinced that 1 Peter is dependent on the Pauline epistles and that is was written after Paul ’ s ministry because it shares many of the same motifs espoused in Ephesians, Colossians, and the Pastoral Epistles.

" The ministers of the Church are described from a passage from Ephesians, and they consisted of apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and doctors.

Panentheistic Christian Universalists often believe that all creation's subsistence in God renders untenable the notion of final and permanent alienation from Him ; they point to Biblical scripture passages such as Ephesians 4: 6 (" is over all and through all and in all ") and Romans 11: 36 (" from and through him and to him are all things ") to justify both panentheism and universalism.

During their Tonsure ( religious profession ), Eastern Orthodox Monks and Nuns are given a prayer rope, with the words: Accept, O brother ( sister ) ( name ), the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God ( Ephesians 6: 17 ) in the everlasting Jesus prayer by which you should have the name of the Lord in your soul, your thoughts, and your heart, saying always: " Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me a sinner.

* Ephesians 2: 8-10: " For by grace are ye saved through faith ; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

They are described in the New Testament, primarily in 1 Corinthians 12, Romans 12, and Ephesians 4.

“ For by grace are you saved through faith ; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God ; not of works, lest any man should boast .” ( Ephesians 2: 8, 9 )

Concerning Ephesians 2: 8 which states: " For by grace are ye saved through faith ; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God ", it is noted that the word " it " is a pronoun and refers back to a noun.

He left in manuscript a paraphrase on Ephesians, and four volumes of an unfinished abridgment ( 1721 – 2 ) of Matthew Henry's ‘ Exposition ’ of the Old Testament, of which specimens are given in the ‘ Universal Theological Magazine ,’ December 1804, pp. 314 sq.

Even though no amount of obedience to laws saves anyone ( Ephesians 2: 8 – 9, Titus 3: 5 ), the Scriptures also state that those who are saved have been created in order to do good works ( Ephesians 2: 10 ).

In addition, they should wear dresses or skirts rather than pants, in accordance with the Scriptural principle that men and women are both created in the image of God, yet reflect this image by appearing differently ( Genesis 1: 26-27, Genesis 2: 18-24, I Corinthians 11: 3-15, Ephesians 5, I Peter 3 ).

Guelich argues that Paul's writings in the Epistle to the Ephesians are focused on proclaiming the peace of God and nowhere specify any techniques for battling demons.

There are three references in the New Testament to God " adopting " Christians as his own children ( Galatians 4: 5, Romans 8: 15 and Ephesians 1: 5 ) and one reference to the adoption by God, of the " people of Israel " ( Romans 9: 4 ).
