( Note: In Pennsylvania and Ohio, there have been many new 4-lane bypasses constructed on U. S. Route 30, so to follow the 1928 route of the Lincoln Highway, at times it is necessary to travel the old U. S. Route 30 alignments which travel through the center of the cities and towns along the route.

Count von Luckner wrote the introduction for Alfred von Niezychowski's book The Cruise of the Kronprinz Wilhelm, 1928, published by Doubleday & Company, about the auxiliary cruiser Kronprinz Wilhelm ( Note: though she had the same name, this was a different ship from the Kronprinz Wilhelm that Count von Luckner was on during the Battle of Jutland )

( Note that the section of road that is called " Jefferson Highway " between Shrewsbury Road and the New Orleans city limits at South Claiborne Avenue was NOT part of the original route as it did not exist until 1928.

It was released as a small-size Federal Reserve Note ( sometimes nicknamed " watermelon notes " due to the design on the reverse ) in 1928, 1934 and 1934A, and a small-size Gold Certificate in 1928.

The Series of 1928 $ 2 bill featured the treasury seal superimposed by the United States Note obligation to the left and a large gray to the right.

All banknotes circulated since 1928 had been printed by the American Bank Note Company, but Waterlow and Sons were now given the contract for the 5 and 50 sucre notes, which were the first Ecuadorian notes to have a security thread.

Note: This synopsis is consistent with the published novel in its final form ( c. 1951 ) but differs in detail from the original 1928 text as transcribed at Project Gutenberg.

Note that this image is a mirror of Lincoln as he appears on the bill-this is because the daguerreotype process produced a single positive image ( rather than a Negative ( photography ) | negative made on photographic film | film, which is then used to make a true Photographic printing | photographic positive ), and the daguerreotype was always a mirror image of the subject material.

* 1914: The first $ 5 Federal Reserve Note was issued with a portrait of Lincoln on the obverse and vignettes of Columbus sighting land and the Pilgrims ' landing on the reverse.

* 1861: The first $ 10 bill was issued as a Demand Note with a small portrait of Abraham Lincoln on the left side of the obverse and an allegorical figure representing art on the right.

Note that Lincoln introduced a very different and larger Y-block engine in 1952 for use on large cars and on Ford heavy duty trucks.

Both the portrait of Lincoln and Bald Eagle vignette were stock elements used on previous banknotes issued by the American Bank Note Company.

Note that the so-called Kinshasa Highway is not a physical road but a metaphor applied to the route by which AIDS is believed to have been spread east through Uganda and Kenya and neighbouring countries by truck drivers from the Congo.

Note that this highway does not connect to most of Whatcom County-Instead, a person would have to travel south to Sedro-Woolley in Skagit County to connect to Highway 20.
