It first appeared on the Great Seal of the Irish Free State, which in turn was replaced by the coat of arms, the Irish Presidential Standard and the Presidential Seal in the 1937 Constitution of Ireland.

One of the first projects of the Irish Free State was the design and production of the Great Seal of Sáorstát Éireann which was carried out on behalf of the Government by Hugh Kennedy.

Decorative Arts and History, including the Great Seal of the Irish Free State, is the part of the collection kept at the Collins Barracks site, a former military barracks named after Michael Collins in 1922.

Willis Harold O ' Brien ( AKA: " Obie "; March 2, 1886 – November 8, 1962 ) was an Irish American motion picture special effects and stop-motion animation pioneer, who according to ASIFA-Hollywood " was responsible for some of the best-known images in cinema history ," and is best remembered for his work on The Lost World ( 1925 ), King Kong ( 1933 ) and Mighty Joe Young ( 1949 ), for which he won the 1950 Academy Award for Best Visual Effects.

The Moore Brothers were three Irish born brothers who became famous in the motion picture business in early Hollywood.

The Rising lasted five days and, despite controlling only a few strategic sites, transformed the political picture in Ireland and began a chain of events that led to Independence for the Irish Free State six years later.

The plaintiff, playwright Anne Nichols, was the author of Abie's Irish Rose, a motion picture play about a young Jewish man who marries an Irish Catholic girl against the wishes of both of their fathers, with hilarity ensuing.
