On June 20, 1934 the Farmers and Merchants Bank was robbed by a group of men.

First, as President of the Farmers & Merchants National Bank, he helped to finance much of the actual construction of the town, as well as providing the necessary capital for the development of the North Field Oil boom.

Domingo Amestoy ( 1822 – 1892 ) was a Basque sheepherder, and banker, one of the original founders to provide the financing for the Farmers and Merchants Bank in Los Angeles, California, in 1871.

In 1871, he bought $ 500, 000 worth of shares in the newly established Farmers and Merchants Bank in Los Angeles.

• In 1906, with his brother Clem Henderson, Charles organized the Troy Bank and Trust Company ; both men also served on the Board of Directors of Farmers and Merchants National Bank of Troy.

In 1871, he helped co-found Farmers and Merchants Bank, the first successful bank in Los Angeles, with Isaias W. Hellman, a banker, philanthropist and future president of Wells Fargo.

" On Dec. 11, 1926, a 22-year old University of Texas at Austin student named Rebecca Bradley posed as a reporter from the Beaumont Enterprise and convinced officials from the Farmers National Bank of Buda to let her use the typewriter.
