Rivaling the prior species in bulk if not dimensions, the mynas of the genus Mino are also large, especially the Yellow-faced ( M. dumontii ) and Long-tailed Mynas ( M. kreffti ).

In 1931, American ornithologist James Lee Peters was the first to consider this in a separate genus along with the Pygmy Cormorant ( M. pygmaeus ), Little Cormorant ( M. niger ), and the Long-tailed Cormorant ( M. africanus ).

Still fairly common are the North American Cougar, Bobcat, American Beaver, Muskrat, Raccoon, Virginia Opossum, rabbit, squirrel, Red and Gray Foxes, and Long-tailed Weasel.

The Kakadu Savanna IBA also supports Varied Lorikeets, Northern Rosellas, Silver-crowned Friarbirds, White-gaped, Yellow-tinted, White-lined, Bar-breasted and Banded Honeyeaters, Sandstone Shrike-thrushes, White-browed Robins, Canary White-eyes, and Masked and Long-tailed Finches.

A variety of birds have been seen in the woods, including the Great Spotted Woodpecker, Tawny Owls, Nuthatch, Coal Tit, Long-tailed Tit, Robin, Thrush, Willow Warbler and Tree-Creepers.

The following animals are found in the Krai: Ussuri black bear ( Ursus thibetanus ), Amur tiger, Amur leopard, lynx, wild boar, Manchurian deer ( Cervus elaphus xanthopygos ), Siberian Roe Deer, musk deer, Long-tailed Goral ( Naemorhedus caudatus ), sika deer, sable, Blakiston's Fish Owl, mandarinka duck ( Aix galericulata ), black stork ( Ciconia nigra ), scaly goosander ( Mergus squamatus ), Chestnut-cheeked Starling ( Sturnia philippensis ), black griffon ( Aegypius monachus ), large-winged cuckoo ( Cuculidae family ), and others.

Many of the lakes hold breeding wildfowl, with species like Long-tailed Duck being found.

Add to this, thousands of Common Eider and Long-tailed Duck, then you have one of the largest concentrations of wildfowl in Norway.

The Long-tailed Shrike or Rufous-backed Shrike ( Lanius schach ) is a member of the bird family Laniidae, the shrikes.

The Long-tailed Shrike is a typical shrike, favouring dry open habitats and found perched prominently atop a bush or on a wire.

The Long-tailed Koel, which breeds in New Zealand, flies to its wintering grounds in Polynesia, Micronesia, and Melanesia, a feat described as " perhaps the most remarkable overwater migration of any land bird.

The majority of icterid species live in the tropics, although there are a number of temperate forms, such as American blackbirds and the Long-tailed Meadowlark.

* The Long-tailed Hopping Mouse ( Notomys longicaudatus ) is an extinct species, which was widespread in the drier regions of southern and central Australia.

The Gaspé Shrew, the local name for a smallish variety of the Long-tailed Shrew, Sorex dispar, can be found on rocky slopes in the park.

The skuas range in size from the Long-tailed Skua, Stercorarius longicauda, at 310 grams ( 11 oz ), to the Brown Skua, Stercorarius antarcticus, at 1. 63 kg ( 3. 6 lb ).

The Pomarine and Great Skuas ' mitochondrial DNA ( inherited from the mother ) is in fact more closely related to each other than it is to either Arctic or Long-tailed Skuas, or to the Southern Hemisphere species.

The Long-tailed Tit has the most widespread distribution of any species of Aegithalidae, occurring across Eurasia from Britain to Japan.

Their plumage is typically dull grey or brown, although some species have white markings and the Long-tailed Tit has some pinkish colour.

At least in the two well-studied species ( the Long-tailed Tit and the American Bushtit ), it is likely that only the female incubates.

Two species have been identified comparatively recently in South Africa, the Long-tailed Pipit in 1996 and the Kimberley Pipit in 2002.

The seaducks commonly found in coastal areas, such as the Long-tailed Duck ( formerly known in the US as Oldsquaw ), scoters, goldeneyes, mergansers, bufflehead and eiders, are also sometimes colloquially referred to in North America as diving ducks because they also feed by diving ; their subfamily ( Merginae ) is a very distinct one however.

In the Sibley-Ahlquist taxonomy, the Paridae family is much enlarged to include related groups such as the Penduline tits and Long-tailed tits, but while the former are quite close to the titmice indeed and could conceivably be included in that family together with the stenostirid " warblers ", the long-tailed tits are not.
