114 and flerovium
In December 1998, scientists at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research working in Dubna, Russia bombarded plutonium ( Pu ) with calcium ( Ca ) to produce a single atom of element 114 ,< ref > flerovium ( Fl ).
These names were later proposed for element 114 ( flerovium ) and element 116 ( moscovium ).

According to the vice-director of JINR, the Dubna team chose to name element 114 flerovium ( symbol Fl ), after the founder of the Russian institute, Flerov Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions, the Soviet physicist Georgy Flyorov ( also spelled Flerov ).
Subsequent work at the JINR laboratory at Dubna, led by Yuri Oganessian, was successful in identifying elements 113-118 ( 113, ununtrium ; 114, flerovium ; 115, ununpentium ; 116, livermorium ; 117, ununseptium and 118, ununoctium ), thereby completing the seventh row of the periodic table of the elements.
A similar phenomenon was found for Z = 120 but not for flerovium ( Z = 114 ).

Flerovium ( formerly ununquadium ) is the radioactive chemical element with the symbol Fl ( formerly Uuq ) and atomic number 114.

In the same experiment they also detected a decay chain which corresponded to the first observed decay of flerovium and assigned to < sup > 289 </ sup > Fl.
A single atom of flerovium, decaying by 9. 67 MeV alpha-emission with a half-life of 30 s, was produced and assigned to < sup > 289 </ sup > Fl.
This time two atoms of flerovium were produced, decaying by 10. 29 MeV alpha-emission with a half-life of 5. 5 s. They were assigned as < sup > 287 </ sup > Fl .< ref name =" 99Og02 "> Once again, this activity has not been seen again and it is unclear what nucleus was produced.
This therefore implies the de facto discovery of flerovium, from the acknowledgment of the data for the synthesis of < sup > 287 </ sup > Fl and < sup > 291 </ sup > Lv ( see below ), relating to < sup > 283 </ sup > Cn.
The discovery of flerovium, as < sup > 287 </ sup > Fl and < sup > 286 </ sup > Fl, was confirmed in January 2009 at Berkeley.
