He is most renowned now for his tomb, which is one of the most important archaeological sites pertaining to the Western Han imperial family, whose contents include the jade burial suits which encased him and his wife, Dou Wan.

He sent secret messengers to Hedong ( 河東, in modern Yuncheng, Shanxi ) to recall his sons ( as he had left his sons Li Jiancheng, Li Yuanji, both by Duchess Dou as well, and Li Zhiyun ( 李智雲 ), by his concubine Lady Wan, there to watch over his household ) and the capital Chang ' an to recall his daughter ( the later Princess Pingyang ) and her husband Chai Shao ( 柴紹 ).

The discovery in 1968 of two complete jade suits in the tombs of Liu Sheng and Dou Wan in Mancheng, Hebei, finally proved their existence.

The jade suits of Liu Sheng and Dou Wan consisted of 2, 498 plates of solid jade connected with two and a half pounds of gold wires.

The Lady Tou Wan or Dou Wan () was the wife of Liu Sheng, a Chinese prince of the Han Dynasty.

Mancheng is primarily notable for being the site of the tombs of Liu Sheng and Dou Wan.

Li Shimin took the captured Dou and Wang's emissaries Wang Wan ( 王琬 ) the Prince of Dai ( Wang Shichong's nephew ) and Zhangsun Anshi ( 長孫安世 ) to Luoyang to display them to Wang Shichong.

Adjoining to the Main Worship Hall is Ching Wan Koon, which is dedicated to Dou Lao, a goddess who is believed to be able to relieve people from their worries.
