In 1917, Tofano invented, for a children's magazine, Il Corriere dei Piccoli, a famous character, Signor Bonaventura, whose adventures lasted for more than forty years.

The following year, he showed at Piccolo teatro his first ediction of Il Signor G (" Mister G "), a recital he repeated in many Italian squares.

Between 1810 and 1813 at Bologna, Rome, Venice and Milan, Rossini produced operas of varying success, most notably La pietra del paragone and Il signor Bruschino, with its brilliant and unique overture.

When Offenbach asked Rossini's permission to revive his comedy Il signor Bruschino, Rossini replied that he was pleased to be able to do anything for " the Mozart of the Champs-Élysées ".

The opera made its first appearance in Venice at the Teatro La Fenice on 6 February 1813, after Il signor Bruschino premiered in late January, giving the composer less than a month to have completed Tancredi.
