Some of the most famous Top 40 stations have been Musicradio 77 WABC / New York City, Boss Radio 93 KHJ / Los Angeles WLS / Chicago, 1050 CHUM / Toronto, Famous 56 WFIL / Philadelphia, and The Big 68 WRKO / Boston.

Majhor was a longtime DJ at 1050 CHUM AM in Toronto and eventually became one of Canada's first " VJs " with the development of music videos.

For many years, it was the primary competition to Toronto's original Top 40 station, 1050 CHUM.

In the 1960s, McAdorey was one of Canada's most influential radio DJs, as the afternoon 1300-1600 and later drivetime, weekdays 1600-1900 host on 1050 CHUM.

When the station moved to a more strictly formatted, less personality-centred sound in 1968, McAdorey left 1050 CHUM, and later worked at CFGM and CFTR.

In 1988, WNBC radio was sold to Emmis Broadcasting ; on October 7, 1988, WNBC permanently signed off the air and Emmis ' WFAN was moved from 1050 AM to WNBC's former spot, 660 AM.

The two stations broadcast on the FM dial at 92. 1 Megahertz, and on the AM dial at 1050 kilohertz.

At the time, WFAN was located at 1050 AM, and had a somewhat marginal signal in portions of the New York area.

As a result, SBS received a temporary waiver to run 1050 while exploring the sale of either AM frequency.

After that deal was approved, WEVD's call letters and programming moved to 1050 AM ( it is now WEPN and ironically a sports station ), and SBS took over 97. 9 as WSKQ-FM.

During the 1920s KNX, like most stations across the country, changed frequencies several times, landing on 1050 kHz as a result of the Federal Radio Commission's reconfigurations of the AM radio band in 1927 and 1928.

He joined KNBR's sister station KTCT 1050 AM in 1999, finishing his broadcasting career there in 2000.

At 12 Midnight on September 6, 2012, the AM-FM simulcast ended, with 1050 AM airing a loop of sweepers alternating bilingually in English and Spanish announcing that ESPN New York 98. 7FM will no longer be heard on 1050 AM and that ESPN Deportes Nueva York will launch at 2PM on September 7, 2012.

From the 1960s to the 1980s, a special feature of the NOAA Weather Radio system was the transmission of a single tone at 1050 Hz prior to the broadcast of any message alerting the general public of significant weather events.

The parade has been heard on radio from CFRB ( 1930s-1950s ) and CBC Radio ( beginning 1950s ), at one point the parade also aired on CP24 Radio 1050 ( at the time the station was operating as a TV simulcast with CP24 during the 2010 parade ) to CHFI-FM ( current broadcaster ) as alternatives to live television coverage.

This arrangement ended on April 13, 2011, in favour of the launch of a new TSN-branded sports talk radio format, becoming known on-air as TSN Radio 1050, weeks after Bell Canada took control of CTVglobemedia's assets including CP24, with the latter company becoming known as Bell Media.

CP24 also shares news resources with other Bell Media-owned outlets, including sports updates with TSN ( and TSN Radio 1050 ), business news updates with BNN, MTV News with MTV Canada and entertainment news updates with eTalk ; in addition CP24 also sometimes shares news reporters with CTV and CTV Two.

Starting in the week of August 21, 2006, Kellerman did at least two nights of audition shows at 7 PM for WEPN ( 1050 ) 1050 ESPN Radio in New York City, hosting one night with Sid Rosenberg.

On Monday, September 14, 2009, Bernstein joined The Michael Kay Show on 1050 ESPN Radio in New York as a co-host and update anchor in her first full-time studio co-hosting role and a content contributor to the station's website.
