In 1068 / 69, a German expedition took and destroyed Rethra, one of the major pagan Wend temples.

The Liutician capital was destroyed by the Germans in 1068 / 69, making way for the subsequent eastward expansion of their western neighbor, the Obodrite state.

Henry became constable of Warwick castle in 1068 and Earl in 1088 as reward for his support for the king during the Rebellion of 1088.

The only detailed description that we have for the town is given by al-Bakri in his Book of Routes and Realms which was completed in 1068.

After Exeter's citizens rejected William's demand that they should swear an oath of fealty to him, he marched to the city in 1068 and laid siege to it for 18 days before it capitulated.

The Annals of Innisfallen record to Toirdelbach as a law-maker, reporting that in 1068: " A law and ordinance was made by Tairdelbach Ua Briain-and no better law was enacted in Mumu for a long time — with the result that neither cow nor horse was housed night but allowed to wander at will.

According to the fourteenth-century chronicler, John of Fordun, Malcolm III, King of Scotland ( reign 1058 – 93 ) married his second bride, the Anglo-Hungarian princess, Saint Margaret, at the church in Dunfermline between 1068 and 1070 ; the ceremony was performed by Forhad, the last Celtic bishop of St Andrews.

During the Kiev Uprising of 1068, brought about by defeat at the hands of the Kipchaks on the Alta River and Iziaslav's unwillingness to arm the veche so its members could march out and face the nomads a second time, the crowd freed Vseslav from prison, and proclaimed him grand prince of Kiev, forcing Iziaslav to flee to Poland.

The surviving versions of Landnámabók date from the second half of the 13th century or a little later, though it has been suggested that it was composed in an early form by Ari Þorgilsson ( 1068 – 1148 ).

He was determined to bring order to the land, bridle the unsubmissive secular and ecclesiastic feudal lords, centralize the state administration, form a new type of army that would stand up better to the Seljuk Turkish military organization, and then go over to a methodical offensive with the aim of expelling the Seljuks first from Georgia and then from the whole Caucasus.

Encouraged by his success, but more importantly the beginning of the Crusades in Palestine, he ceased payment of the annual contribution to the Seljuks and put an end to their seasonal migration to Georgia.

It was ruled by Seljuks of Hamadan, Atabegs of Azerbaijan, Kingdom of Georgia, Khwarezmshahs, Ilkhanate, Chupanids, Jalayirids, Karakoyunlu Turcomans, Timurid Empire and Akkoyunlu Turcomans successively before Safavid rule.

They completed the conquest of the Kingdom of Georgia in 1238 ; however, the Mongol Empire began to attack western parts of Greater Armenia which was under the Seljuks the next year.

Soon, Georgia was attacked again by the Seljuks, a nomadic Turkic people, who would prove to be a major menace to George II ’ s reign.

The king also secured the formal return of Upper Tao / Tayk ( Theme of Iberia ), a frontier region which had been a bone of contention between Georgia and the Byzantine Empire early in the 11th century, by the Byzantine governor, Gregory Pakourianos, who began to evacuate the region shortly after the 1071 disaster inflicted by the Seljuks on the Byzantine army at Manzikert.

In the 1060s, Bagrat faced with an even greater problem: the Seljuks under Alp Arslan started to penetrate the frontier regions of Georgia.
