Bayezid I ( Ottoman: بايزيد اول, Turkish: Beyazıt, nicknamed Yıldırım ( Ottoman: ییلدیرم ), " the Thunderbolt "; 1354 – March 8, 1403 ) was the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire, from 1389 to 1402.

De Pizan ’ s participation in a literary quarrel, in 1401 – 1402, allowed her to move beyond the courtly circles, and ultimately to establish her status as a writer concerned with the position of women in society.

Returning to Italy, the most celebrated doors are those of the Battistero di San Giovanni ( Florence ), which together with the door frames are all in bronze, the borders of the latter being perhaps the most remarkable: the modeling of the figures, birds and foliage of the south doorway, by Andrea Pisano ( 1330 ), and of the east doorway by Ghiberti ( 1425 – 1452 ), are of great beauty ; in the north door ( 1402 – 1424 ) Ghiberti adopted the same scheme of design for the paneling and figure subjects in them as Andrea Pisano, but in the east door the rectangular panels are all filled, with bas-reliefs, in which Scripture subjects are illustrated with innumerable figures, these being probably the gates of Paradise of which Michelangelo speaks.

The site for constructing the walls and the thickness of the walls in Beijing's Forbidden City were favored by the Chinese Yongle Emperor ( r. 1402 – 1424 ), because they were in pristine position to resist cannon volley and were built thick enough to withstand attacks from cannon fire.

* The Timurid ruler of Persia, Mirza Shahrukh ( r. 1404 – 1447 ), sends a large embassy to the Ming Dynasty of China during the reign of the Yongle Emperor ( r. 1402 – 1424 ).

* October 22 – Ghiyasu'd-Din Naqqah, an envoy of the embassy sent by the Timurid ruler of Persia, Mirza Shahrukh ( r. 1404 – 1447 ), to the Ming Dynasty of China during the reign of the Yongle Emperor ( r. 1402 – 1424 ), records his sight and travel over a large floating pontoon bridge at Lanzhou ( constructed earlier in 1372 ) as he crosses the Yellow River on this day.

The Hongwu Emperor specified his grandson Zhu Yunwen as his successor, and he assumed the throne as the Jianwen Emperor ( 1398 – 1402 ) after Hongwu's death in 1398.

Zhu Di assumed the throne as the Yongle Emperor ( 1402 – 1424 ); his reign is universally viewed by scholars as a " second founding " of the Ming Dynasty since he reversed many of his father's policies.

The Yongle Emperor ( Traditional Chinese: 永樂帝 ; Simplified Chinese: 永乐帝 ; pinyin: Yǒnglèdì ; Wade-Giles: Yung-lo Emperor ; ) ( 2 May 1360 – 12 August 1424 ), born Zhu Di ( 朱棣 ), was the third emperor of the Ming Dynasty of China, reigning from 1402 to 1424.

On 15 January 1402 Zhu Di made the bold decision to march his army straight to Nanjing, encountering stiff resistance.

Having ended Jianwen's reign, Zhu Di and his administration spent the latter part of 1402 brutally purging China of Jianwen's supporters as well as their family members including women and children.

On 17 July 1402, after a brief visit to his father's tomb, Zhu Di was crowned Emperor Yongle at the age of 42.

In 1402, Zhu Di launched a coup d ' état and successfully deposed his nephew, the Jianwen Emperor.

The Jianwen Emperor ( Traditional Chinese: 建文 ; Simplified Chinese: 建文 ; pinyin: Jiànwén ; Wade-Giles: Chien-wen ) ( 5 December 1377 – 13 July 1402 ), with the personal name Zhu Yunwen ( 朱允炆 ), reigned as the second Emperor of the Ming dynasty.

In 1402, Zhu Di's army finally reached Nanjing and, after a brief fight, Zhu Di usurped Jianwen Emperor's throne and was crowned as Yongle Emperor.

After the Jianwen Emperor lost to Zhu Di in a civil war, the new emperor banned the use of the era name Jianwen in the 10th month of 1402.

Knowledge of the reign of Ming Taizu's successor, the Jianwen Emperor ( 1399 – 1402 ), has been almost entirely lost to us as a result of the civil war and coup d ' état launched by his uncle, Zhu Di.

His illegitimate son by Mariette d ' Enghien, was " Jean Levieux Valois des Orléans " better known as John of Dunois ( 1402 – 1468 ), Jean is the ancestor of the Dukes of Longueville.

John of Orléans, Count of Dunois ( French better known as Jean d ' Orléans, comte de Dunois, also known as John of Orléans and Bastard of Orléans ) ( 23 November 1402 – 24 November 1468 ) was the illegitimate son of Louis d ' Orléans ( Duc d ' Orléans 1372-1407 ) by Mariette d ' Enghien.

Frederick IV, Duke of Further Austria ( 1382 – June 24, 1439 ), also known as Frederick of the Empty Pockets, was the Habsburg duke of Further Austria from 1402, and Count of Tyrol from 1406, until his death.

He became the Despot of Serbia in 1402 after the Ottoman state temporarily collapsed following Timur's invasion of Anatolia with the Battle of Ankara, where he and his Serbian Knights fought well and a good portion of his forces survived. Then stopping at Constantinople on his way home, he was well received by the Emperor who granted him the title of Despot by which he was to be known from then on and by which his successors were also to be known.

The settlement originated in the Middle Ages around the farmstead later known as Crowder House, first known from a deed of 1402.
