Ugo Boncompagni was born the son of Cristoforo Boncompagni ( 10 July 1470 – 1546 ) and of his wife Angela Marescalchi in Bologna, where he studied law and graduated in 1530.

He built 1470 reservoirs – the highest number by any ruler in the history, repaired 165 dams, 3910 canals, 163 major reservoirs, and 2376 mini reservoirs.

Richard, along with his brother the King, fled to Burgundy in October 1470 after Warwick defected to the side of Margaret of Anjou.

This sculpture was made around 1470 under the rule of King Axayacatl, the predecessor of Tizoc, and is said to tell the history of the Aztecs and a prophecy for the future.

Edward IV ( 28 April 1442 – 9 April 1483 ) was King of England from 4 March 1461 until 3 October 1470, and again from 11 April 1471 until his death.

Henry VI ( 6 December 1421 – 21 May 1471 ) was King of England from 1422 to 1461 and again from 1470 to 1471, and disputed King of France from 1422 to 1453.

History and legend has given René the title " Good King René of Provence ", though he only lived in Provence in the last ten years of his life, from 1470 to 1480, and his political policies of territorial expansion were costly and unsuccessful.

( The marriage was eventually solemnised at Amboise on 13 December 1470 but may not have been consummated, as Margaret was seeking a better match for Edward once he was King.

King Charles died 14 May 1470.

The nobility attached itself to one side or the other ( and often changed sides ), but eventually in 1461 Henry was defeated by Richard's son, who became King Edward IV ; Henry was incarcerated in the Tower of London for nine years, but the wars continued and in October 1470 Edward was forced to flee to the continent and Henry was restored to the throne.

Howard took the King's side when war broke out in 1469 with the Earl of Warwick, and took sanctuary at Colchester when the King fled to Holland in 1470.

When King Henry VI regained the throne for a brief period ( 1470 – 1471 ), Tiptoft was captured and beheaded.

In September 1470 he joined Warwick and Clarence in the invasion of England which restored King Henry to the throne, and on 13 October bore the Sword of State before the King in a procession to St Paul's.

He is known to have traveled to Spain in 1470, as part of a diplomatic mission for the King, which was a complex affair attempting both to dissuade Spain from joining an alliance with England and Burgundy against France, and to arrange a marriage between Isabella I of Castile and Charles, Duke of Guyenne ( the brother of king Louis XI ).

In 1470 King Matthias Corvinus granted the first judicial privilege to the city, and in 1482 declared the city a royal settlement.

King James III gained his hold and rights of the Norwegian Earldom of Orkney for the Scottish Crown in 1470 ( see History of Orkney ), against a promised compensation ( it turned out to be lands of Ravencraig, in 1471 ); and William Sinclair was thereafter Earl of Caithness alone until he resigned the Earldom in favour of his son William in 1476.
