Simon Coveney ( born 16 June 1972 ) is an Irish Fine Gael politician who has served as a Teachta Dála ( TD ) for Cork South – Central since 1998.

Coveney provoked controversy when, in September 2011, he flew to Algeria on the government jet at a cost of more than € 26, 000 to the Irish taxpayer when there were flights available for € 16, 331.

In 1957 he had the first solo exhibition of his paintings in New York at the Tibor de Nagy Gallery and he had the final solo exhibition of his lifetime-Kenneth Noland Shaped Paintings 1981-82, which opened Oct 29 2009 at the Leslie Feely Fine Art Gallery on E. 68th St. in New York City and was scheduled to close January 9, 2010, though, the closing date was later extended to January 16.

A major retrospective exhibition of Lyonel Feininger's work, initially at the Whitney Museum of American Art during June 30-October 16, 2011, was subsequently due to run at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts during January 20 – May 13, 2012.

John Charles Walsham Reith, 1st Baron Reith, KT, GCVO, GBE, CB, TD, PC ( 20 July 1889 – 16 June 1971 ) was a Scottish broadcasting executive who established the tradition of independent public service broadcasting in the United Kingdom.

The promise to cut up to 20 TDs caused some controversy and skepticism due to the Constitutional requirement that there be no less than one TD for every 30, 000 people, which would necessitate a minimum of 150 TDs — meaning that the current number of 166 TDs could be reduced by 16 at most.
