John Milton ( 1608 – 1674 ) wrote a textbook in logic or dialectic in Latin based on Ramus ' work, which has now been translated into English by Walter J. Ong and Charles J. Ermatinger in The Complete Prose Works of John Milton ( Yale University Press, 1982 ; 8: 206-407 ), with a lengthy introduction by Ong ( 144-205 ).

František Maxmilián Kaňka ( August 9, 1674 – July 14, 1766, both in Prague ) was a Czech architect and builder.

The Château de Clagny in Versailles was built between 1674 and 1680 from the drawings of Jules Hardouin-Mansart, Premier architecte du Roi, ( First architect of the King ), on land bought by Louis XIV in 1665.

Although it is often claimed that she was her own architect, there is no conclusive documentary evidence for this and it is most likely that the executant architect was William Taylor, who is known to have been at Weston Park in 1674.

In 1674 Sir Peter replaced the chapel adjacent to the hall, designed in a mixture of Gothic and Jacobean styles, and a tower was added to the chapel in 1724.

After the restoration of Charles II in 1660, the present ' Ducal Mansion ' was built by Henry Cavendish, 2nd Duke of Newcastle between 1674 and 1679 on the foundations of the previous structure.

Henry studied first under Captain Henry Cooke ( d. 1672 ), Master of the Children, and afterwards under Pelham Humfrey ( d. 1674 ), Cooke's successor.
