An American, John White, arrived at Da Nang ( then called Turon ) on 18 June 1819 in the brig Franklin of Salem, Massachusetts, and was advised that the country was recovering from devastating wars, and that what little produce there was had already been promised.

In 1819 Weddell was introduced to James Strachan, a shipbuilder of Leith, who together with James Mitchell, a London insurance broker, owned the 160-ton brig Jane, an American-built ship taken during the war of 1812 and re-fitted for sealing.

On October 23, 1819 he was sent from Boston aboard the brig Thaddeus along with Asa and Lucy Goodale Thurston to lead a mission by the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions.

In 1819 the iron works consisted of 4 blast furnaces, producing 1, 400 tons of pig-iron.

In 1819 the first British whaleship, the Syren ( 510 tons ), under Frederick Coffin of Nantucket, was sent to the Japan grounds, where she began whaling on 5 April 1820.

Samuel McCully opened a mine in 1819 with much of his production being shipped by sea to Saint John, New Brunswick and other markets, but went out of business in 1821 having mined less than 600 tons.

In May 1819, Captain Arent de Peyster ( or Peyter ) of New York, as captain of the armed brigantine or privateer Rebecca, sailing under British colours, while on a voyage from Valparaíso to India, passed through the southern Tuvalu waters ; de Peyster sighted Nukufetau and Funafuti, which he named Ellice's Island after an English Politician, Edward Ellice, the Member of Parliament for Coventry and the owner of the Rebecca's cargo.

Funafuti was named Ellice's Island after Edward Ellice, a British politician and merchant, by Captain Arent de Peyster, who sighted the islands in 1819 sailing on the ship Rebecca.

Butler was born in Deerfield, New Hampshire, the sixth child of Captain John Butler, who served under General Andrew Jackson at the Battle of New Orleans during the War of 1812 and later became a privateer, dying in 1819.

He also carved figureheads for the U. S. Navy frigates ( John Adams, 1799, whereabouts unknown ), ( Hercules, 1799, burned 1804 ), and ( Captain John Smith, 1822, whereabouts unknown ); along with the gun-ships ( Benjamin Franklin, 1815, U. S. Naval Academy Museum ), ( Christopher Columbus, 1819, whereabouts unknown ), ( Sir Walter Raleigh, 1820, whereabouts unknown ), and ( Hercules, 1824 – 37, attributed to Rush or his son John, whereabouts unknown ).

He moved to Chile as Captain of the Curiacio where he arrived in June 22, 1819 and became an important part of that country's First Chilean Navy Squadron.

Gray, Kirby prepared the natural history supplement for Captain Parry's 1819 – 1820 expedition to seek the North-West Passage: his work formed the insect section of the Account of the Animals seen by the late Northern Expedition while within the Arctic Circle 1821.

Stevens, the son of Captain Thomas Holdup Stevens ( 1795 – 1841 ) was born in Middletown, Connecticut, on 27 May 1819.

The university was founded in 1819 at Norwich by military educator and former superintendent of West Point, Captain Alden B. Partridge.

Rising to the rank of Captain 5 March 1817, early in 1819 Henley commanded U. S. man-of war Congress to China, the first U. S. warship to visit that country.

John Keats by Severn 1819

Severn is best known for his many portraits of Keats, the most famous being the miniature portrait in the National Gallery ( 1819 ), the pen-and-ink sketch, Keats on his Deathbed ( 1821 ), and the oil painting of the poet reading, John Keats at Wentworth Place ( 1821 – 23 ).

They had two sons: Victor Gifford ( 1809 – 1860 ) and John Woodhouse Audubon ( 1812 – 1862 ); and two daughters who died while young: Lucy at two years ( 1815 – 1817 ) and Rose at nine months ( 1819 – 1820 ).

Amongst those who followed these ideas were the English poets and painters that constituted the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, who, from about 1850, opposed the dominant trend of industrial Victorian England, because of their " opposition to technical skill without inspiration " They were influenced by the writings of the art critic John Ruskin ( 1819 – 1900 ), who had strong feelings about the role of art in helping to improve the lives of the urban working classes, in the rapidly expanding industrial cities of Britain.

While even folkloric vampires of the Balkans and Eastern Europe had a wide range of appearance ranging from nearly human to bloated rotting corpses, it was interpretation of the vampire by the Christian Church and the success of vampire literature, namely John Polidori's 1819 novella The Vampyre that established the archetype of charismatic and sophisticated vampire ; it is arguably the most influential vampire work of the early 19th century, inspiring such works as Varney the Vampire and eventually Dracula.

The Romantic poet John Keats stayed in Winchester from mid-August to October 1819.
