Born in 1906 in Sheridan, Wyoming, Pyle was the first governor of Arizona to be born in the 20th century and was the Program Director of KFAD ( now KTAR ) Radio in Phoenix from 1930 to 1951.

Reginald Fessenden would later claim to have made a radio voice broadcast, using a rotary spark gap transmitter, on December 24, 1906.

One of the first signals of significant power that carried voice and music was accomplished in 1906 by Reginald Fessenden when he made a Christmas Eve broadcast to ships at sea from Massachusetts.

The Reginald A. Fessenden House, 45 Waban Hill Road in the village of Chestnut Hill in Newton, Massachusetts, was the residence from 1906 or earlier to 1932 of the inventor Reginald A. Fessenden, called " the father of radio broadcasting ," because he was the first to broadcast the human voice and music by radio.

In 1932 Fessenden cited the Christmas Eve 1906 broadcast event in a letter he wrote to Vice President S. M.

The issue of whether the 1906 Fessenden broadcast actually happened is discussed in Halper and Sterling's article " Seeking the Truth About Fessenden " and also in James O ' Neal's essays.

An annotated argument supporting Fessenden as the world's first radio broadcaster was offered in 2006 by Dr. John S. Belrose, Radioscientist Emeritus at the Communications Research Centre Canada, in his essay " Fessenden's 1906 Christmas Eve broadcast.

It was decided to try to establish a transatlantic radiotelegraph service, and, in January, 1906, employing his rotary-spark transmitters, Fessenden made the first successful two-way transatlantic transmission, exchanging Morse code messages between a station constructed at Brant Rock and an identical one built at Machrihanish, Scotland.

On December 21, 1906, Fessenden made an extensive demonstration of the new alternator-transmitter at Brant Rock, showing its utility for point-to-point wireless telephony, including interconnecting his stations to the wire telephone network.

On the evening of December 24, 1906 ( Christmas Eve ), Fessenden used the alternator-transmitter to send out a short program from Brant Rock.

Fessenden presented radio's first program on Christmas Eve 1906.
