The book is usually referred to as Second Nephi, and is abbreviated " 2 Ne.

In 2 Nephi chapter 2, Lehi expounds to Jacob, about the redemption and salvation through Jesus.

Nephi then records in the book more of Isaiah — chapters 2 through 14 of Isaiah.

Thus, he proffers divine mercy to the truly penitent who voluntarily come unto him, offering them the gift of his grace to " lift them up " and " be perfected in Him " through his merits ( 2 Nephi 2 and 9 ; Alma 12, 34, and 42 ; Moroni 9: 25 ; 10: 33 ; compare ).

The Book of Mormon declares: “ Yea, come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness ; and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness, and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you, that by his grace ye may be perfect in Christ ; and if by the grace of God ye are perfect in Christ, ye can in nowise deny the power of God ,” ( Moroni 10: 32-33 ) illustrating the need for compliance with the laws and ordinances of the gospel and the need for the pure love of Christ in conjunction with the receipt of the gift of grace, which comes “ after all we can do ” ( 2 Nephi 25: 23 ).

Such works must be motivated by love for Jesus Christ and others, not focused on appearances for the sake of pride or trusting in the " arm of flesh " ( 2 Nephi 4: 34 ), but focused on Christ's grace and His power to change men's hearts as they look upon Him " with faith, having a contrite spirit.

" ( 2 Nephi 2: 6, 4 ) " Hath he commanded any that they should not partake of his salvation?

" ( 2 Nephi 26: 27, 28 ) Christ says, in effect, that He has given all men the gift of His grace as the opportunity to access His power to cleanse them, heal them, and make them whole ( perfect ), but to access that power, the divine law of mercy requires that they come unto Him " with full purpose of heart " through faith and repentance ( 3 Nephi 18: 32 ).

He later prophesied ( Book of Mormon, 2 Nephi 3 ) that a latter-day Joseph, son of Joseph, who would also be a descendant of the house of Joseph, would do a great work that would be a blessing to Lehi's descendants.

" Nevertheless, in 2 Nephi 27: 13, the Three are told that " none other ... shall view it, save it be a few according to the will of God.

Fearing for their safety, Nephi and his followers travelled " for many days " to a new land which they called Nephi ( 2 Ne.

And if the foreigners fighting in the Katanga Army are mercenaries then Lafayette and Von Steuben were mercenaries too, as were also the members of the Lafayette Escadrille in the early part of World War 1, and of Chennault's Flying Tigers in the early days of World War 2.

The reasons are obvious: ( 1 ) the state is buying in quantity, and ( 2 ) it has no federal excise or state sales tax to pay.

Taxation of tangible movable property in Rhode Island has been generally of a `` hands off '' nature due possibly to several reasons: ( 1 ) local assessors, in the main, are not well paid and have inadequate office staffs, ( 2 ) the numerous categories of this component of personal property make locating extremely difficult, and ( 3 ) the inexperience of the majority of assessors in evaluating this type of property.

Among the many problems in the taxing of personal property, and of movable tangible property in particular, two are significant: ( 1 ) situs, ( 2 ) fair and equitable assessment of value.

With regard to the rupees accruing to uses indicated under Article 2, of the Agreement, the understanding of the Government of the United States of America, with respect to both paragraphs 1 ( B ) and 1 ( C ) of Article 2, is as follows: ( 1 )
