STS-114 Discovery ( 26 July-9 August 2005 ) was the Return to Flight mission following the Columbia accident during which the crew continued the assembly of the International Space Station.

Also appearing on the field was the crew of STS-114, the " Return to Flight " Space Shuttle mission that eventually launched Space Shuttle Discovery on July 26, 2005.

On August 3, 2005, as a Mission Specialist ( and Flight Engineer ) on STS-114, the first Return to Flight mission following the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster, Robinson became the first human to perform an in-flight repair to the Shuttle's exterior.

Robinson performed another " first " on STS-114 when he made the first podcast from space ( transcript & audio ) on 7 August 2005.

On 30 July 2005, NASA announced that STS-114 would be extended for one day, so that Discoverys crew could help the ISS crew maintain the station while the shuttle fleet is grounded.
