According to archaeologists, sufficient archaeological correlates of state-level societies coalesced in the 4th century to show the existence in Korea of the Three Kingdoms ( AD 300 / 400 – 668 ) of Baekje, Goguryeo, and Silla.

Waldebert ( also known as Gaubert, Valbert and Walbert ), ( died c. 668 ), was a Frankish count of Guines, Ponthieu and Saint-Pol who became abbot of Luxeuil in the Benedictine Order, and eventually a canonized saint in the Roman Catholic Church, like several among his kinsmen who protected the Church, enriched it with lands and founded monasteries.

In 668 Emperor Tenji ( reigned 668-671 ), bestowed the kabane on Kamatari.

From 663 to 668 Syracuse was the seat of Emperor Constans II, as well as metropolis of the whole Sicilian Church.

Constans II (), also called Constantine the Bearded ( Kōnstantinos Pogonatos ), ( November 7, 630 – September 15, 668 ) was Byzantine Emperor from 641 to 668.

Constantine IV (, ), ( c. 652 – September 685 ), sometimes incorrectly called Pogonatos, " the Bearded ", by confusion with his father ; was Byzantine Emperor from 668 to 685.

He had been given the responsibility of managing the affairs at Constantinople during his father ’ s extended absence in Italy and became senior Emperor when Constans was assassinated in 668.

The Ōmi Code, named after the provincial site of Emperor Tenji's court, was completed in about 668.

After seizing Cyprus in 649 and raiding Rhodes, Crete and Sicily, the young Arab navy decisively defeated the Byzantines under the personal command of Emperor Constans II ( 641 – 668 ) in the Battle of the Masts of 655.

With Constans ' death in 668, the throne passed to his son Constantine IV.

Constans then moved on to Sicily, oppressed the population, and was assassinated at Syracuse in 668.

In terms of official Imperial nomenclature, the style " Constantine III " would be more appropriate for his son Constans II ( r. 641 – 668 ).

The coin remained in regular issue under Heraclius's successor Constans II ( r. 641 – 668 ), from whose reign many specimens survive, but becomes rarer for Constantine IV ( r. 668 – 685 ), and thereafter seems to have been only occasionally minted as a ceremonial coin until abandoned entirely under Anastasios II ( r. 713 – 715 ).

In the eastern court, the appointment to consulship became a part of the rite of proclamation of a new emperor from Justin II ( r. 565 – 578 ) on, and is last attested in the proclamation of the future Constans II ( r. 641 – 668 ) as consul in 632.
