Thomas Kyd ( baptised 6 November 1558 ; buried 15 August 1594 ) was an English dramatist, the author of The Spanish Tragedy, and one of the most important figures in the development of Elizabethan drama.

In 2009, Brian Vickers published the results of a computer analysis, with a program designed to detect plagiarism, which suggest that 40 % of the play was written by Shakespeare with the other scenes written by Thomas Kyd ( 1558 – 1594 ).

The Unfortunate Traveller: or, the Life of Jack Wilton ( published The Unfortunate Traueller: or, The Life of Iacke Wilton ) by Thomas Nashe ( 1594 ) is a picaresque novel set during the reign of Henry VIII of England.
