Leo, who was of non-noble birth, had risen in the hierarchy of Rome and was elected Pope only one day after the burial of his predecessor, Pope Adrian I, who had worked for good relations between Rome and the Frankish Empire under Charlemagne.

Adrian Malcolm Conan Doyle ( 19 November 1910-3 June 1970 ) was the youngest son of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and his second wife Jean, Lady Conan Doyle.
Adrian Doyle produced additional Sherlock Holmes stories, some with the assistance of John Dickson Carr.
On 12 September 1942, the Associated Press announced that an authentic, unpublished Sherlock Holmes story had been found by Adrian Conan Doyle.
