Aerial warfare is relatively recent, and wargames on the subject are usually tactical games simulating dogfights, there are relatively few dealing with just the air war of a larger conflict.

Aerial surveillance is the gathering of surveillance, usually visual imagery or video, from an airborne vehicle — such as a unmanned aerial vehicle, helicopter, or spy plane.

Aerial crane or ' Sky cranes ' usually are helicopters designed to lift large loads.

* Aerial work platform, a mechanical device used to effect temporary access for people or equipment to inaccessible areas, usually at height

* Aerial Ladder: A rotating, power-operated ( usually hydraulically ) ladder mounted on a self-propelled automotive fire apparatus.

* Aerial Ladder Platform: A power-operated ( usually hydraulically aerial device which combines an aerial ladder with a personal carrying platform supported at the end of a ladder.

Aerial shots are usually done with a crane or with a camera attached to a special helicopter to view large landscapes.

Aerial acrobatics are common in a presentation roda, while not seen as often in a more serious one.

While gondola lifts are traditionally used for ski resort purposes, in recent years they are finding increased usage in urban environments as seen in the installations of the Metrocable ( Medellín ), Portland Aerial Tram, Metrocable ( Caracas ) and Cable Aéreo ( Manizales ).

The tower can also be seen in the 1999 Canadian documentary Over Canada: An Aerial Adventure.

Aerial lift systems are frequently employed in mountainous territory where roads are relatively difficult to build and use, and have seen extensive use in mining.

Aerial photos taken by German pilots during WWI clearly show the Nebbi Yunes sanctuary, near the British landing site at the beginning of the British 1918 Jerusalem offensive.

Additionally, most Unmanned Aerial Vehicles ( UAVs ) and submersible Remotely Operated Vehicles ( ROVs ) require at least one joystick to control either the vehicle, the on-board cameras, sensors and manipulators.

Aerial reconnaissance was often a hazardous task because of a requirement to fly at slow speeds and at low altitudes.

: The 53 WG is headquartered at Eglin and serves as the Air Force ’ s focal point for operational test and evaluation of armament and avionics, aircrew training devices, chemical defense, aerial reconnaissance improvements, electronic warfare systems, and is responsible for the QF-4 Phantom II Full Scale Aerial Target ( FSAT ) program and subscale drone programs ( located at Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida ).

It is also used for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle training, and it is expected that F-35 Lightning IIs assigned to the 33d Fighter Wing at Eglin Air Force Base will utilize OLF Choctaw for training.

Aerial tramways are constructed as reversible systems ; vehicles shuttling back and forth between two end terminals and propelled by a cable loop which stops and reverses direction when the cabins arrive at the end stations.

Among its subordinate squadrons at Tyndall, the 53 WEG manages offshore weapons ranges over the Gulf of Mexico, manages target drone programs ranging from sub-scale target drones to a fleet of QF-4 Phantom II Full-Scale Aerial Targets ( FSAT ), most of which are converted F-4E and F-4G aircraft.
