The Tabula Rogeriana was drawn by Al-Idrisi in 1154 for the Norman King Roger II of Sicily, after a stay of eighteen years at his court, where he worked on the commentaries and illustrations of the map.

He is currently writing a Muslim Steampunk novel imagined around Muslim geographer Al-Idrisi ’ s ( 1100 – 1166 ) alleged journey to England in the 12th century.

In the time of Muslim rule in the Iberian Peninsula, the Arab geographer Al-Idrisi noted this constant guard by ravens, for which the place was named by him كنيسة الغراب " Kanīsah al-Ghurāb " ( Church of the Raven ).

The Egyptian historian Al-Idrisi ( d. 1251 ) developed another archaeological methodology in his book Anwar for Egyptology, which included: " reasons for the study of the importance of the pyramids ; description of the route to the site ; description of the pyramids and their inscriptions ; measuring, and checking previous measurements ; analysis of the form of the pyramid and reasons for building, with a critical review of literature ( more than 22 authorities quoted ) on the subject ; study of sediments as an indication of the flood level ; chemical analysis of clay in building material, by studying its mineral content in order to check place of origin ; regular visits to the site to see it in different conditions, and to recheck measurements ; noting stones reused at Jeremias Monastery, Saqqara as evidence of earlier dates, an observation confirmed by modern research.

Al-Idrisi writing in Sicily in 1154 suggests that by the middle of the 12th century the town of Aoudaghost was in decline: " This is a small town in the desert, with little water.

Zaghawa overrule continued for a considerable period, the geography of the region given by Al-Idrisi in 1154 and Yaqut in 1220 also reveal an oasis centered system of Zaghawa power, and includes the two main towns of Kanem, Manan and Anjimi.

Al-Idrisi spoke about belief in various spirits, and about acceptance by some Kimaks of Manichaeism and Islam.

Zeila's importance as a trading port is further confirmed by Al-Idrisi and Ibn Said, who describe it as a town of considerable size and a center of the local slave trade.

Al-Idrisi, the author of the Nuzhat-ul-Mushtak, compiled near the end of the 11th century, says that " From Multan to the vicinity of Mansura, the country is occupied by a warlike race, called Nadha ".

The Dalmatian names Jadra, Jadera were transferred to other languages ; in Venetian language Jatara ( hyper urbanism in 9th century ) and Zara, Tuscan Giara, Latin Diadora ( Constantine VII in DAI, 10th century ), Old French Jadres ( Geoffroy de Villehardouin in the chronicles of the Fourth Crusade in 1202 ), Arabic Jādhara ( جاذ َ رة ) & Jādara ( جاد َ رة ) ( Al-Idrisi, 12th century ), Iadora ( Guido, 12th century ), Spanish Jazara, Jara, Sarra ( 14th century ) and the others.

Al-Idrisi traced his descent through long line of Princes, Caliphs and leaders, to Prophet Muhammad.

Al-Idrisi was born in, where his great-grandfather had fled after the fall of in.

Al-Baghdadi and other Muslim historians such as Abu al-Hassan al-Hamadani of Yemen ( d. 945 ) and Al-Idrisi of Egypt ( d. 1251 ) developed elaborate archaeological methods which they employed in their excavations and research of ancient archaeological sites.

Archeology confirms that te Kimaks in the Irtysh area were semi-settled, Al-Idrisi in the 12th century wrote about Kimak cultivated lands as a well-known fact, with wheat crops, millet, barley, legumes, and even rice.

Al-Idrisi describes in detail the Kimak cities, emphasizing that all of them were well fortified.
