Her Japanese father, Hiroaki " Rocky " Aoki, a former wrestler, was the founder of the Benihana restaurant chain and owned it until his death on July 10, 2008.

The various drums of taiko are of Chinese origin and were brought to Japan between the Yayoi period ( 500 BCE – 300 CE ).

In China, Korea and Japan, carp farming took place as early as the Yayoi Period ( c. 300 BC – 300 AD ).

During the Yayoi period ( 300 BC – 300 AD ), the sea receded further almost to today's coastline, and the economy shifted radically from hunting and fishing to farming.

The Yayoi followed the Jōmon period ( 14, 000 – 300 BC ) and Yayoi culture flourished in a geographic area from southern Kyūshū to northern Honshū.

In the following Yayoi period ( c. 300 BC – 300 AD ) tattoo designs were observed and remarked upon by Chinese visitors.

In about 4th – 3rd century BC, Yayoi style earthenware appeared, which had a simple pattern or no pattern.

No remains from the Jōmon ( 14, 000 – 300 BCE ) or Yayoi 300 BCE – 250 CE ) periods have been found in Wakasa.

The long, unique asymmetrical bow style with the grip below the center emerged under the Yayoi culture ( 300 BC – 300 AD ) Bows became the symbol of authority and power.
