The Duke of Sussex married a second time on 2 May 1831 ( again in contravention of the Royal Marriages Act ) to Lady Cecilia Letitia Buggin ( 1793 – 1873 ), the eldest daughter of Arthur Gore, 2nd Earl of Arran and Elizabeth Underwood ; and the widow of Sir George Buggin.

In Sir Thomas Malory's Le Morte d ' Arthur and elsewhere, she is married, unhappily, to King Urien of Gore and Ywain is her son.

The final creation in the Peerage of Ireland came in 1762, when Sir Arthur Gore, 3rd Baronet, was created Earl of Arran, of the Arran Islands in the County of Galway.

King Arthur is a legendary British leader of the late 5th and early 6th centuries, who, according to medieval histories and romances, led the defence of Britain against Saxon invaders in the early 6th century.

However, the Arthur in films and television is clearly depicted as living during a much later period – the costumes used in such dramatizations resemble those of people living in the 12th century more than they do those used during the 5th or 6th.

One school of thought, citing entries in the Historia Brittonum ( History of the Britons ) and Annales Cambriae ( Welsh Annals ), sees Arthur as a genuine historical figure, a Romano-British leader who fought against the invading Anglo-Saxons sometime in the late 5th to early 6th century.

In recent years the portrayal of Arthur as a real hero of the 5th century has also made its way into film versions of the Arthurian legend, most notably the TV series Arthur of the Britons

For example, the fully developed Code of Chivalry, which has a major role in the Arthurian tales, reflects the social conditions of the late Middle Ages when these tales were composed, rather than the conditions of 5th Century Britain when the historical King Arthur lived.
