Based on the view that the Ahasuerus of the Book of Tobit is identical with that of the Book of Esther, some have also identified him as Nebuchadnezzar's ally Cyaxares ( ruled 625 – 585 BCE ).

The conservative nature of these changes underlines the fact that Protestantism was by no means universally popular – a fact that the queen herself recognized: her revived Act of Supremacy, giving her the ambiguous title of Supreme Governor passed without difficulty, but the Act of Uniformity 1559 giving statutory force to the Prayer Book, passed through the House of Lords by only three votes.

However, with the exceptions of Smith's translation of portions of the book of Book of Genesis ( renamed Selections from the Book of Moses ) and the translation of Matthew ( called Joseph Smith – Matthew ), no portions of the Joseph Smith Translation have been officially canonized by the LDS Church.
