Mark King ( Level 42 ) lived for several years in the Spinney and Boon Gould ( Level 42 ) lived for several years in Gleneldon Road.

Mark King and the Gould brothers ( Phil and Rowland, the latter generally known by his nickname " Boon ") were all brought up on the Isle of Wight and played together in various bands during their teenage years.

The developing band's original guitarist was Dominic Miller ( later to find fame playing with Sting ), but he was replaced by Boon Gould on the latter's return from working in the United States.

Initially, instrumental roles were flexible, with Boon Gould also playing bass guitar and saxophone and Lindup doubling on keyboards and drums.

With Phil Gould and Boon Gould established ( respectively ) as the most accomplished drummer and guitarist in the quartet, King opted to learn bass guitar instead.

The developing band ( at this point, entirely an instrumental act ) took the name Level 42 and settled on a working line-up of King ( bass guitar, percussion ), Lindup ( keyboards, percussion ), Boon Gould ( guitar, saxophone ) and Phil Gould ( drums ).

During 1987, both Phil Gould and Boon Gould left Level 42.

Boon Gould left the band in late 1987, following a support slot on a Madonna tour.

Boon Gould was temporarily replaced by Paul Gendler ( an experienced session player who'd previously been the guitarist for Modern Romance ) for a six-week headlining tour and for further support slots with Tina Turner.

Boon Gould co-wrote many of the tracks with King, Lindup and Badarou.

Mike Lindup added keyboards and vocals to many tracks, and Boon Gould co-wrote most of the album with King as well as contributing a guitar solo on the track " Ship.

" Although Phil Gould is uncredited on the album, the track " Ship " is the first song since 1986 worked on by all four original members, as Phil originally arranged the track with his brother Boon.

King and Boon Gould decided the band should be called simply by a number, and they both favoured ' 88 ' – the number of the bus they used to catch to the recording studio.

It is known therefore, that the use of the number ' 42 ' in the band name came from either King, Boon Gould, or Sojka.

Boon formed Minutemen in January 1980 with childhood friend Mike Watt on bass, from their previous band, The Reactionaries, later adding former Reactionaries drummer George Hurley.

The right to be heard in answer to charges before an unbiased tribunal is illustrated in the Singapore case Tan Boon Chee David v. Medical Council of Singapore ( 1980 ).

Late 1980 Boon and Papendrecht left to join Meike Touw's Tutti Frutti.

Tamburovich's influence and input remained with his friends and former bandmates for the whole of the Minutemen's existence ; Watt, Boon, and Tamburovich co-founded New Alliance Records in 1980 ; Tamburovich would contribute lyrics to several Minutemen songs and sometimes travel with the band as a roadie.

Boon returned to the ODI team for the Sharjah Cup tournament in the UAE during April 1987.

The selectors persevered with Boon as a Test opener and he hit 143 from 255 balls when recalled for the first Test against New Zealand at Brisbane in late 1987.

After various other members had come and gone, by 1987 the line-up included bassists Dave Swift and Mark Hughes ( who left shortly after ) and organist Clint Boon ( whose Ashton-under-Lyne studio the band had been using for rehearsals ).

In an interview for the Sunday Times Magazine ( published 11 November, 1990 ), she admitted having written nine pseudonymous Mills & Boon romances before publishing her block-buster novel Destiny in 1987.

In 1816, a United States officer at Fort Osage, on the Missouri, wrote, " We have been honored by a visit from Colonel Boon, the first settler of Kentucky ; he lately spent two weeks with us.

A song on Watt's semi-autobiographical 1997 album Contemplating the Engine Room, " The Boilerman ", is about D. Boon ; on the recording itself, guitarist Nels Cline plays one of Boon's last Telecaster guitars, which Watt is in possession of.

The city has been the birthplace of two prominent Australian cricketers ; the former Australian cricket captain Ricky Ponting and the retired cricketer and Australian selector David Boon.

Nearly all of Boon's work was infused by his profound commitment to socialism ; in experimental, modernistic works such as Vergeten straat, Boon projected an ideal society but at the same time shared his doubts as to whether human nature could achieve utopia.
