In 1961, Moore appeared in several big parts in movies and on television, including Bourbon Street Beat, 77 Sunset Strip, Surfside Six, Wanted: Dead or Alive, Steve Canyon, Hawaiian Eye, Thriller and Lock-Up.

Warners then produced a series of popular private detective shows beginning with 77 Sunset Strip ( 1958 – 64 ) followed by Hawaiian Eye ( 1959 – 1963 ), Bourbon Street Beat ( 1960 ) and Surfside Six ( 1960 – 1962 ).

He filed a civil suit against Razzoo Bar and Patio, a Bourbon Street nightclub, after a Mardi Gras 2004 incident in which he claimed he was assaulted by the club's bouncers.

Bourbon Street Beat is a private detective series which aired on the ABC network from 1959-1960 and featured Andrew Duggan as Cal Calhoun, Richard Long as Rex Randolph, Van Williams as Kenny Madison, and Arlene Howell as Melody Lee Mercer, the secretary at the New Orleans detective agency in which they worked.

The series was one of several Warner Bros. detective shows which aired on ABC during this era, but Bourbon Street Beat was not as successful as the others ( except as a title which sticks in everyone's mind ).

When the series ended, the character of Rex Randolph moved to 77 Sunset Strip, and the character of Kenny Madison moved to the spin-off Surfside 6, which aired in the Bourbon Street Beat time slot the following season.

Richard Long ( December 17, 1927 – December 21, 1974 ) was an American actor better known for his leading roles in several ABC television series, including The Big Valley, Nanny and the Professor and Bourbon Street Beat.

He moved into leading man status in horror movies such as Cult of the Cobra ( 1954 ), and House on Haunted Hill ( 1959 ) before he achieved considerable success on television, including the series Bourbon Street Beat ( 1959 – 60 ).

The success of Cheyenne led WBTV to produce many series for ABC such as Westerns ( Maverick, Lawman, Colt. 45, Bronco that was a spin off of Cheyenne, Sugarfoot, and The Alaskans ), crime dramas ( 77 Sunset Strip, Hawaiian Eye, Bourbon Street Beat, and Surfside 6 ), and other shows such as The Gallant Men and The Roaring Twenties using stock footage from WB war films and gangster films respectively.

Williams was also known for his earlier leading role as Kenny Madison in both Warner Bros. television detective series Bourbon Street Beat ( 1959 ) and its sequel Surfside Six ( 1960 ).

His big break came as costar of the ABC television series Bourbon Street Beat, set in New Orleans.

Williams later worked in a General Electric production with Ronald W. Reagan, and his Bourbon Street Beat character, Kenny Madison, was recycled into the Surfside 6 television series in exactly the same time slot, with Troy Donahue.

His best known role may be Zoey Bartlet's French boyfriend, Jean-Paul Charpentier, Vicomte de Condé de Bourbon, in the fourth season of the television drama The West Wing, and Superman's future enemy, Mr. Mxyzptlk in a fourth season episode of Smallville titled " Jinx.
