* Carcharhiniformes: Commonly known as groundsharks, the species include the blue, tiger, bull, grey reef, blacktip reef, Caribbean reef, blacktail reef, whitetip reef and oceanic whitetip sharks ( collectively called the requiem sharks ) along with the houndsharks, catsharks and hammerhead sharks.

Requiem sharks are a family, Carcharhinidae, of sharks in the order Carcharhiniformes, containing migratory, live-bearing sharks of warm seas ( sometimes of brackish or fresh water ) such as the tiger shark, the blue shark, the bull shark, and the milk shark.

The tiger shark is a member of the order Carcharhiniformes.

The families in the order Carcharhiniformes are expected to be revised ; recent DNA studies show that some of the traditional groups are not monophyletic.
