Commuter rail operates on the other four lines using Irish Rail diesel multiple units.

MARC, Maryland's Rail Commuter service, serves Rockville with its Brunswick line.

The Haverhill / Reading Line of the MBTA Commuter Rail terminates in neighboring Haverhill, providing rail service into Boston's North Station.

MBTA Commuter Rail provides service from Boston's North Station with the Haverhill and Bradford stations on its Haverhill / Reading Line.

Lynn has a stop on the Newburyport / Rockport Line of the MBTA Commuter Rail, and several MBTA bus routes that connect it with Boston and the neighboring communities.

The town is served by a stop along the Newburyport / Rockport Line of the MBTA Commuter Rail, providing service from Rockport along the North Shore to Boston's North Station.

The nearest rail station is in South Lawrence, which is part of the Haverhill / Reading Line of the MBTA Commuter Rail, providing service into Boston's North Station.

There is no rail service within town ; there are two lines ( the Haverhill / Reading Line and the Newburyport / Rockport Line ) of the MBTA Commuter Rail to the west and south of town, both of which provide access to Boston's North Station.

The Newburyport / Rockport Line of the MBTA Commuter Rail passes through town, with its northern terminus just over the Newburyport line.

Wenham lies along the Newburyport section of the Newburyport / Rockport Line of the MBTA Commuter Rail.

The town lies between the termini of two lines of the MBTA Commuter Rail, the Haverhill / Reading Line to the west and Newburyport / Rockport Line to the east.

The MBTA Commuter Rail Fitchburg Line train stops at the South Acton station.

MBTA Commuter Rail provides service from Boston's North Station with the North Billerica station on its Lowell Line.

Stations were built in both locations and North Billerica Station is still an active Commuter Rail Station.

* Anderson Regional Transportation Center is a transit hub, with Amtrak service to Portland, Maine and MBTA Commuter Rail service to Boston's North Station and Lowell, Massachusetts, as well as bus service to Logan International Airport and Manchester-Boston Regional Airport

The Bay Colony Railroad merges with the present day MBTA Commuter Rail in Needham.

Both services serve South Station in Boston with connections to MBTA Commuter Rail and Amtrak intercity lines.

Commuter rail service to the same station is provided by MARC's Camden Line between Washington's Union Station and the Camden Station in Baltimore, Maryland, using the original 1835 Baltimore and Ohio Railroad ( B & O ) track route between Washington and Baltimore, now part of the CSX System.

The rail lines are primarily used for freight transportation, though Maryland Area Rail Commuter ( MARC ) trains utilize the old B & O line from stations in Martinsburg, Duffields, and Harper's Ferry to Washington Union Station and vice-versa.

Commuter rail service to South Station, Boston, is available on the Middleboro & Plymouth lines from the Rail Station located on Union Street.

These days rail service is provided through Wellesley's participation in the MBTA, which offers a total of 17 weekday Commuter Rail trains inbound towards Boston & outbound towards Framingham & Worcester.

Commuter services in the south-east came under the London & South East sector, which would become Network SouthEast in 1986.

This is the main line to Cork, serving Kildare of Commuter services occurs at milepost 30 and the junction for Kilkenny and Waterford, Portarlington, a diverging route to west via Tullamore and Athlone, Portlaoise, Ballybrophy, the junction for Limerick via Nenagh, Thurles, Limerick Junction ( for direct Limerick and Ennis services, and Waterford via Clonmel ), Mallow ( junction for Killarney & Tralee ).

With an eye towards preserving freight service and future transit right-of-way, San Diego County commissioned its own internal study effort, “ Feasibility of Using Existing SD & AE ROW for Commuter Service ”, to examine using a portion of the SD & AE tracks for light rail or diesel passenger service sharing track with freight services.

After bankruptcy, The B & M continued to run and fulfill its Commuter Rail contract under the protection of the United States Bankruptcy Court, in the hopes that a reorganization could make it profitable again.

The shuttles routes are designed so that residents can connect to various regional bus and rail services, including Alhambra Community Transit, City of Commerce Municipal Bus, Foothill Transit, LADOT DASH & Commuter Express, MTA, Metrolink, Montebello Bus Lines, and Monterey Park Spirit Bus.

It also offers an express service to the Dune Park station of the Northern Indiana Commuter Transit District Friday though Sunday ( Friday through Saturday during Valparaiso University's spring, summer and winter breaks ), timed to meet certain trains.

Deal Island's communities were once served by the Somerset Commuter ( now Shore Transit ), on Route 4, starting from Princess Anne's main transfer point.

Commuter rail New Jersey Transit has a station in Manasquan on the North Jersey Coast Line.

Commuter rail service is provided by New Jersey Transit at the Mount Olive Station along its Morristown Line and Montclair-Boonton Line to Hoboken Terminal in Hoboken, NJ, with transfers possible to reach New York City at New York Penn Station.

Commuter rail service is available via the Salisbury Mills-Cornwall train station, operated by NJ Transit, and several other nearby stations on Metro North Railroad.

Exceptions in this region include bilevel passenger rail cars that run on the Long Island Rail Road ( LIRR ), New Jersey Transit ( NJ Transit ), and Boston's MBTA Commuter Rail ( MBTA ), all of which were built to unique designs to clear specific structure gauge problems on those systems.

Replacing the pre-existing Tri-County Commuter Rail Authority, the goal of incorporation was to expand cooperation between the Tri-Rail commuter rail service and the existing county public transport authorities: Broward County Transit, Miami-Dade Transit, and Palm Tran.
