* Doane Stuart School, Albany ( K12, Boarding / Day )

The Doane Stuart School is an independent, coeducational school in Rensselaer, New York.

The Doane Stuart School was founded in 1975 as a merger between the Roman Catholic Kenwood Academy ( founded by the Society of the Sacred Heart in 1852 ) and the Episcopal St. Agnes School ( founded 1870 ).

The name Doane Stuart was chosen to honor the First Episcopal Bishop of Albany, the Right Reverend William Croswell Doane, son of George Washington Doane founder of St. Mary's Hall-Doane Academy, now Doane Academy, and the Roman Catholic educator, Janet Erskine Stuart, RSCJ.

Doane Stuart was established as a co-educational school.

On March 2008, the Board of Trustees of Doane Stuart announced it had decided to end its affiliation the Network of Sacred Heart Schools.

On Tuesday, May 20, 2008, Rensselaer voters approved 463 to 74 the sale of the Van Rensselaer Elementary school and property for $ 4 million to the Doane Stuart School.

After a year-long renovation and restoration effort, a new chapter in the story of the Doane Stuart School began on September 16, 2009, as students began classes at the School ’ s permanent new campus home.

Doane Stuart students are very active in the community, completing more than 5, 000 hours annually of volunteer community service in the Albany area.

Doane Stuart ’ s Upper School has 125 students, while the Lower and Middle Schools combined have 165 students, split 50: 50 between boys and girls.

Doane Stuart students are primarily from the eight counties surrounding Albany, from as far south as the Catskills, to as far north as Saratoga Springs.

Doane Stuart students are encouraged to participate and take leadership roles.

Doane Stuart is a member of the Central Hudson Valley League, Class D. The Doane Stuart School campus includes a gym and one athletic field.

The School hosts an Irish American Exchange program, begun in 2003, which brings together Protestant and Catholic students from Lagan College in Belfast, Northern Ireland to spend a year at Doane Stuart and live with local families.

Every year, a group of Doane Stuart students visit Lagan College, where they attend seminar courses in Irish History, Northern Ireland Politics, and Irish Language.

By July 1869 Crosby was attending at least weekly meetings organized by the interdenominational New York City Mission, After a young man was converted through her testimony, Crosby was inspired to write the words for " Rescue the Perishing " based on a title and a tune given to her by William Howard Doane a few days earlier.

On March 9, 2010, Doane, under his real name, wrestled in a tryout dark match for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, losing to Homicide.

On November 1, 2010, Doane announced that he had turned down a chance to wrestle another tryout match for TNA.

The names of the two members involved were later released on the Pensacola News Journal website / forum as pilot No. 4 USMC Maj. Clint Harris and the administrative officer, Navy Lt. Gretchen Doane.

The glacial erratic known as Doane Rock is also located on the grounds.

In 1846, under the leadership of Bishop and Rector George Washington Doane, construction was begun on New St. Mary's.

Kenneth George Doane ( born March 16, 1986 ) is an American professional wrestler best known for his time with World Wrestling Entertainment ( WWE ) where he wrestled on its Raw and SmackDown brands under the ring names Kenny and Kenny Dykstra.

Following the split of the Spirit Squad, Doane was the only member to remain on WWE television.
