The CCNS includes nearly of seashore along the Atlantic-facing eastern edge of Cape Cod, in the towns of Provincetown, Truro, Wellfleet, Eastham, Orleans and Chatham.

Originally settled in the 1650s by the Europeans as Billingsgate ( after the famous fish market in East London ), Wellfleet was part of neighboring Eastham until 1763, achieving town status after nearly 30 years of petitioning.

Wellfleet is bordered by Truro to the north, the Atlantic Ocean to the east, Eastham to the south, and Cape Cod Bay to the west.

The Billingsgate shoals are split between Wellfleet and neighboring Eastham.

Wellfleet, Brewster, Eastham and Orleans make up the Nauset Regional School District.

The Nauset Regional Middle School is located in Orleans, and the Nauset Regional High School is located in neighboring Eastham.

After sequential arrests in 1928 and 1929, he was sent to Eastham Prison Farm in April 1930.

Paroled in February 1932, Barrow emerged from Eastham a hardened and bitter criminal.

After Barrow was released from prison in February 1932, he and Ralph Fults assembled a rotating core group of associates and began a series of small robberies, primarily of stores and gas stations ; their goal was to collect enough money and firepower to launch a raid of liberation against Eastham prison.

His visit to Cape Cod in 1797 coincided with the division of the town of Eastham into two towns, one of which took the name of Orleans, possibly in his honour.

Originally settled by the Nauset tribe, Eastham was the site where in 1621 a hunting expedition comprised from the crew of the sailing vessel Mayflower, which had stopped in Provincetown harbor on Cape Cod Bay after a rough crossing of the Atlantic Ocean, which led to the first encounter of the Pilgrims and the local Nauset Indians at First Encounter Beach.

The original lands included what are now the towns of Truro, Wellfleet, Eastham, Orleans and a small portion of Chatham.

Eastham town was officially incorporated in 1651.

In fact, it was in Eastham that Henry Beston wrote The Outermost House.

Today, Eastham is mostly known as the " Gate " to the Cape Cod National Seashore, which was founded in 1961 by President John F. Kennedy to protect Cape Cod's coast from erosion and overpopulation.

Whilst at Newcastle, he was also involved in the George Eastham affair, another player who challenged the authorities on player's rights.

In England, the " retain " aspect of the system was removed after a decision by the High Court in 1963 in Eastham vs. Newcastle United that it was unreasonable.
