Jacobs, all of whom exhibit the easily recognizable Belgian clean line style, often opposed to the " Marcinelle school "- style, mostly proposed by authors from the Spirou magazine, such as Franquin, Peyo and Morris.

Morris himself won an International Documentary Association Award, an Edgar Award, and a MacArthur Fellowship Genius Grant ( 1989 ).

Edgar Allan Poe, Herman Melville, Walt Whitman lived and taught and privately lectured there, Winslow Homer painted there, and architects Alexander Jackson Davis and Richard Morris Hunt had offices there.

Born as Philip St. John Basil Rathbone in Johannesburg to English parents, Edgar Philip Rathbone, a mining engineer and scion of the Liverpool Rathbone family, and Anna Barbara ( née George ), a violinist, he had two older half-brothers, Harold and Horace, as well as two younger siblings, Beatrice and John.

In some trance " readings " of Edgar Cayce, Hermes or Thoth was an engineer from the submerged Atlantis, who also built, designed or directed the construction of the Pyramids of Egypt.

Edgar Barth's son Jürgen Barth became an engineer at Porsche who also went into motorsport, to win the Le Mans 24 Hours in 1977.

Charles Edgar Duryea ( December 15, 1861 – September 28, 1938 ) was the engineer of the first-ever working American gasoline-powered car and co-founder of Duryea Motor Wagon Company.

John Edgar Thomson ( February 10, 1808 – May 27, 1874 ) was an American civil engineer and industrialist.

Professor Edgar Hayden, then a young engineer in the University of Illinois Radio Direction Finding Research Group, led the reassembly of the Wullenweber, studied the design and performance of HF / DF arrays and researched the physics of HF / DF under contract to the U. S. Navy from 1947 through 1960.

The engineer responsible for its project and construction was Edgar Cardoso.

Soon after he worked under engineer J. Edgar Thomson as a rod man assisting in surveying where he worked closely then with a man who would become a lifelong friend and business associate, Richard Peters.

Over the course of twenty years, Carnegie ’ s steel properties grew to include the Edgar Thomson Steel Works, the Lucy Furnace Works, the Union Iron Mills, the Homestead Works, the Keystone Bridge Works, the Hartman Steel Works, the Frick Coke Company, and the Scotia ore mines among many other industry related assets.

In 1952, General Robert E. Wood, the Chairman of Sears, Roebuck and Company, a U. S. department store chain, sent a letter to Edgar G. Burton, President of the Robert Simpson Company of Toronto, to propose a partnership between their two companies in order to serve the Canadian market.

The Bronfman family gained its fortunes through the Seagram Company, an alcohol distilling company, but Edgar Jr. (" Efer " to friends ) has gained his reputation by expanding and later divesting ownership of the Seagram Company, as well as for pursuing more creative activities as a Broadway and film producer and songwriter.

The first sports reporter in Great Britain, and one of the first sports reporters in the World, was an English writer Edgar Wallace, who made a report on the Epsom Derby on June 6, 1923 for the British Broadcasting Company.

The current President ( 2007 ) is David Edgar, the noted playwright, TV and film writer ( Nicholas Nickleby for the Royal Shakespeare Company ; Pentecost, which won an Evening Standard award in 1994 ; The Jail Diary of Albie Sachs ; Albert Speer, based on Gitta Sereny's biography of Hitler's architect ; Playing With Fire ; etc.
