Edward Vincent " Ed " Sullivan ( September 28, 1901 – October 13, 1974 ) was an American entertainment writer and television host, best known as the presenter of the TV variety show The Ed Sullivan Show.

Sullivan had one installed as well, and on 13 May 1883, at a party to celebrate the composer's 41st birthday, the guests, including the Prince of Wales ( later Edward VII ), heard a direct relay of parts of Iolanthe from the Savoy.

Although the public didn't seem to care much about Thorpe's past, the Amateur Athletic Union ( AAU ), and especially its secretary James Edward Sullivan, took the case very seriously.

Comyns Carr, with incidental music by Sullivan ( 1895 ), Imogen in Cymbeline ( 1896 ), the title character in Victorien Sardou and Émile Moreau's play Madame Sans-Gêne ( 1897 ) and Volumnia in Coriolanus ( 1901 ).

Sir Edward German ( 17 February 1862 – 11 November 1936 ) was an English musician and composer of Welsh descent, best remembered for his extensive output of incidental music for the stage and as a successor to Arthur Sullivan in the field of English comic opera.

He embraced a representative selection of composers, notably the Frenchmen Berlioz, Bizet, Delibes, Gounod, Massenet and Saint-Saëns, and the rising generations of British composers – Arthur Sullivan, Hubert Parry, Charles Villiers Stanford, Hamish MacCunn, Edward German and Granville Bantock.

Upon the 1894 founding of the IOC, the two constituent American members, James Edward Sullivan and William Milligan Sloane, formed a committee to organize the participation of American athletes in the Games of the I Olympiad to be contested two years later in Athens, Greece.

Amadou Bailo Diallo ( September 2, 1975 – February 4, 1999 ) was a 23-year-old Guinean immigrant in New York City who was shot and killed on February 4, 1999 by four New York City Police Department plain-clothed officers: Sean Carroll, Richard Murphy, Edward McMellon and Kenneth Boss, who fired a combined total of 41 shots, 19 of which struck Diallo, outside 1157 Wheeler Avenue in the Soundview section of The Bronx.
