A venturi scrubber is a converging / diverging section of duct.

An example of FGD is the wet scrubber which is commonly used.

A wet scrubber is basically a reaction tower equipped with a fan that extracts hot smoke stack gases from a power plant into the tower.

In wet scrubbing systems, the flue gas normally passes first through a fly ash removal device, either an electrostatic precipitator or a wet scrubber, and then into the-absorber.

To promote maximum gas-liquid surface area and residence time, a number of wet scrubber designs have been used, including spray towers, venturis, plate towers, and mobile packed beds.

Each unit has a forced oxidation wet scrubber for flue-gas desulfurization, using limestone slurry in two countercurrent – flow absorber vessels to remove 92 % of SO < sub > 2 </ sub > from the flue gas.

It can also be as complex as an electrostatic precipitator, a multistage baghouse, or a chemically treated wet scrubber or stripping tower.

A wet scrubber is used to clean air, flue gas or other gases of various pollutants and dust particles.

These can be removed very well by a wet scrubber.

A dry or semi-dry scrubbing system, unlike the wet scrubber, does not saturate the flue gas stream that is being treated with moisture.
