Ensley High School, which was founded in 1901, closed in 2006 with the student body merging into the new P. D.

Benjamin Ensley owned the land on which he, E. W. Muenscher, and Mr. Shaw began the settlement that Muenscher platted in 1868.

Main street was initially constructed on Ensley street, which was named after early settler Benjamin Ensley, but in 1883 many of the wooden buildings on Ensley street burned down.

* July 10 – Attempting an instrument approach to Birmingham Municipal Airport ( now Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport ) in severe thunderstorms, L ' Express Airlines Flight 508, a Beechcraft C99, crashes in the Ensley neighborhood of Birmingham, Alabama, killing 13 of the 15 people on board and injuring the two survivors and four people on on the ground.

Thirty-two people were killed in this tornado including three in Oak Grove, eleven near Rock Creek, four in Sylvan Springs, two in Wylam Heights, nine in Edgewater, two in McDonald Chapel and one in West Ensley.

There also were reports of a collection at the County Line Elementary School, 3505o Dequindre, which has been attended this year by four of the Kowalski children including Christine.

In Hot Springs, Bill attended St. John's Catholic Elementary School, Ramble Elementary School, and Hot Springs High School – where he was an active student leader, avid reader, and musician.

Cadillac also has an alternative high school, located in the building that formerly housed Cooley Elementary School.

The six elementary schools are Bordewich-Bray Elementary School, Empire Elementary School, Fremont Elementary School, Fritsch Elementary School, Mark Twain Elementary School, and Al Seeliger Elementary School.

One of the district's three elementaries, Parma Elementary School, is located on the south side of the village, near the site of the demolished Parma High School.

Saint Michael's School, located in downtown Cranford, is a major Roman Catholic parochial school which offers Nursery through Grade 8 and is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Elementary Schools, operating under the auspices of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Newark.

Van Junior-Senior High School and Van Elementary School are both located on Bulldog Blvd.

It is located near the South Macon Elementary school.

Smokey Mountain Elementary School is located in the township, resulting from the 1980 consolidation of Qualla Elementary School and Log Cabin Association Consolidated School.

Other schools in the county are Sharp Middle School, located between Falmouth and Butler, Northern Elementary in Butler, and Southern Elementary in Falmouth.

It is served by Caverna High School, Caverna Middle School and Caverna Elementary School, located just inside Barren County between Cave City and Horse Cave.

The North Vermillion Community School Corporation administers North Vermillion Junior-Senior High School and North Vermillion Elementary School, both located just north of Cayuga along State Road 63.

Calhoun County Elementary School is located in Arlington and Calhoun County Middle & High School is located in Edison, as well as the Calhoun County Library.

There are three elementary schools Columbia Elementary, Central Elementary, and Grayson Elementary in the parish, one Jr high, Caldwell Parish Jr High, and one high school, Caldwell Parish High School, located between Columbia and Grayson.

Both J. B. Pennington High School ( PHS ) and Blountsville Elementary School ( BES ), the town's only two schools, are located in the center of Blountsville.

Locust Fork High School and Elementary School are located in the center of the town along the west side of Alabama Highway 79.

Warrior Elementary School is located in Warrior and the city ir served by Mortimer Jordan High School in Morris and North Jefferson Middle School in nearby Kimberly.
