The subculture surfaced on Broadway as musical comedy in The Nervous Set ( 1959 ) by Neurotica editor Jay Landesman and Theodore J. Sir Richard John Evans, FBA, FRSL, FRHistS ( born 29 September 1947 ) is a British academic and historian, best known for his research on the History of Germany in the 19th century and especially on the Third Reich.

Governor John Evans sought and gained authorization from the War Department in Washington to found the Third Colorado Cavalry.

Encouraged by Governor Evans and spurred by his own ambitions, Chivington felt pressure to use the " Bloodless Third " before the volunteers ' terms expired.

In his memoirs A Third Face, Fuller described meeting Evans when casting his Korean War film The Steel Helmet in 1950.
