The George Rogers Clark Council was formed by Scouts of Clark, Floyd, Harrison, Crawford, Scott, and Washington counties in 1927, and merged with Old Kentucky Home Council in 1993 to form the Lincoln Heritage Council, which serves Scouts in Kentucky and Indiana.

He has appeared as a session musician on various albums by modern bands and artists, and is probably best known for his solo parts on the Pink Floyd songs " Money ", " Us and Them ", " Shine On You Crazy Diamond " and " Wearing the Inside Out ".

Both he and Wilson played on David Gilmour's eponymous first solo album ; Parry played on several Pink Floyd records and tours and had a career as a session musician.

Later, she became a solo musician in her own right ; she would occasionally bring both Floyd and his brother Scott onstage to sing harmony vocals.

The Creek Center Mercantile, formerly " Winslow's Store " and " Floyd's Mall " named after Floyd Winslow, its now deceased but longtime owner, has been for many years the main general store in town.

In 1928, Admiral Byrd began his first expedition to the Antarctic involving two ships, and three airplanes: Byrd's Flagship was The City of New York ( a Norwegian sealing ship previously named Samson that had come into fame as a ship in the vicinity of Titanic when the latter was sinking ); a Ford Trimotor called the Floyd Bennett ( named after the recently deceased pilot of Byrd's previous expeditions ); a Fairchild FC-2W2, NX8006, built 1928, named " Stars And Stripes " ( now displayed at the Virginia Aviation Museum, on loan from the National Air and Space Museum ); and a Fokker Universal monoplane called the Virginia ( Byrd's birth state ).
