After the Gosport Advanced Line of Fort Brockhurst, Fort Elson, Fort Rowner, Fort Grange and Fort Gomer had been approved by the Royal Commission on the Defence of the United Kingdom a decision was made to build an outer line of three more forts two miles in advance of the Gosport Advanced Line.

The film briefly uses several railway locations including the level crossing at Fort Brockhurst on the ( by then ' goods only ') Gosport branch in Hampshire.

Forts at Ticonderoga and Crown Point ( Fort St. Frederic ) controlled passage of the lake in colonial times.

In 1943, during World War II, HM Fort Roughs was constructed by the United Kingdom as one of the Maunsell Forts, primarily for defence against German mine-laying aircraft that might be targeting the estuaries that were part of vital shipping lanes ; it comprised a floating pontoon base with a superstructure of two hollow towers joined by a deck upon which other structures could be added.

Its located between two US Army Forts, Fort Lee to its East and Fort Pickett to its West.

Forts Lucas and Morrison were garrisoned during the war by the Massachusetts colonial militia, and there is also some evidence that British royal troops used Fort Morrison briefly.

World War II brought establishment or reactivatation of military bases around Narragansett Bay, including Forts Getty and Wetherill on Conanicut Island, Fort Greble on Dutch Island, a torpedo factory on Goat Island and a torpedo station on Gould Island.

Fort Garry, along with the sites of nearby Fort Rouge and Fort Gibraltar, were collectively designated a National Historic Site in 1924 as part of the " Forts Rouge, Garry, and Gibraltar National Historic Site of Canada ".

6 July 1922: The ' 18 of the Copacabana Fort revolt ' on their way to confront army loyalistsTheir early-morning rebellion was taken up by a garrison in São Paulo but not by others ; only " scattered units around Rio de Janeiro revolted: the Escola Militar, some elements of the First Infantry Regiment and the Battalion of Engineers, and the garrisons of Forts Copacabana and Vigia.

Fort Donelson National Battlefield preserves Fort Donelson and Fort Heiman, two sites of the American Civil War Forts Henry and Donelson Campaign, in which Union Army Brigadier General Ulysses S. Grant and Flag Officer Andrew Hull Foote captured three Confederate forts and opened two rivers, the Tennessee River and the Cumberland River, to control by the Union Navy.

In March 1865, while Lincoln met at City Point with Grant, Sherman and Admiral David Dixon Porter, Union forces finally took Petersburg and then captured Richmond in April, after an unsuccessful Confederate assault on Fort Stedman.

On February 18, 1861, on orders from United States Army General David E. Twiggs, Fort Clark was surrendered to the Texas Commission.

The British took the missionaries David Zeisberger and John Heckewelder under guard back to Fort Detroit, where the two men were tried ( but eventually acquitted ) on charges of treason against the British Crown.

Smithsburg is close to Fort Ritchie army base and just west of the presidential retreat Camp David.

In July 1811 David Thompson of the NWC voyaged down the Columbia River, reaching the partially constructed Fort Astoria of the American rival Pacific Fur Company.

In July 1755, Clive returned to India to act as deputy governor of Fort St. David at Cuddalore.

Following this action Clive headed to his post at Fort St. David and it was there he received news of twin disasters for the English.

The term " urban survival syndrome " was first used in 1994 in a Fort Worth, Texas murder case in which two defense attorneys, David Bays and Bill Lane, defended Daimion Osby, their 17-year-old black client, who had shot and killed two unarmed men in a parking lot and was on trial on two counts of first degree murder.
