Karamu House had developed a reputation for nurturing black actors having carried on the mission of the Gilpin Players, a black acting troupe whose heyday predated Karamu.

The results were The House that Jack Built and The Diverting History of John Gilpin, published in 1878.

Central City is a home rule municipality in Clear Creek and Gilpin counties in the U. S. state of Colorado, and the county seat of Gilpin County.

The Bill specifically created a narrow road corridor between the Indian Peaks and James Peaks Wilderness areas and states that if any of the affected counties ( Grand, Gilpin or Boulder ) request, the Secretary of the USDA will cooperate and assist with the repair of the Rollins Pass Road and until that time the attendant road ( the BWR ) will remain open to motorized use.
