* 1945 – Goldy McJohn, Canadian musician ( Steppenwolf, The Mynah Birds, and The Sparrows )

The group was formed in 1963 in Los Angeles by vocalist John Kay, guitarist Michael Monarch, bassist Rushton Moreve, keyboardist Goldy McJohn and drummer Jerry Edmonton after the dissolution of Toronto group The Sparrows, formed by John Kay in the early 60s, of which only Moreve was not a member.

Another promoter, David Pesnell, reportedly acted as manager for an incarnation featuring former members Nick St. Nicholas, Goldy McJohn and Kent Henry, and new lead singer, Tom Pagan.

Another Wolf band, launched in the summer of 1978, featured lead vocalist Bob Simpson, and original members Goldy McJohn and Rushton Moreve, with Kent Henry.

The St. Nicholas / McJohn grouping eventually disbanded due to exhaustion and heavy drug use by St. Nicholas, Goldy McJohn and drummer Frankie Banali.

In 2010, John Kay granted Glen Bui and Goldy McJohn a license under Steppenwolf Productions to perform as The Magic Carpet Ride.

Although only two of the five original members of Steppenwolf were born in Canada ( Jerry Edmonton and Goldy McJohn ), the band was among the biggest in Canadian music in the 1960s and 1970s.

John Kay and Goldy McJohn joined this group in Toronto in 1965 and, after some more changes in personnel and relocating to California, the group was renamed Steppenwolf.

When Steppenwolf temporarily broke up on February 14, 1972, Edmonton and Steppenwolf organist Goldy McJohn formed the band Seven with singer Lance Gullickson and guitarist Robin Huff.

In B-Fighter, Karato was one of the other Metal Hero protagonists Janperson while Silver Ray was his rival Gun Gibson, and Goldex was the main villan Bill Goldy ( used by the villains as a pawn after being revived ), but was absorbed into Borgslayer.

The band's classic line-up consisted of Gregg Giuffria on keyboards, David Glen Eisley ( lead vocalist ), Craig Goldy ( guitar ), Chuck Wright ( bass ), and Alan Krigger ( drums ).

McJohn was replaced by Andy Chapin on Hour of the Wolf in 1975, though McJohn appeared in artwork for the single to Caroline ( Are You Ready ) and claims that his keyboard work can be heard on many of the album's tracks.

Due to this, children born after 1945 were not able to identify themselves as Ainu.
