Tim Blake ( synthesiser player on Planet Gong ) produced a solo album called " Blake's New Jerusalem ", including a 20 minute track with lyrics from Blake's poem.

By that time, a regular line-up had been established, and Gong released their Flying Teapot album in May 1973.

But in 2003, the band decided on Jason ' Gong ' Jones to replace Williams and released the album Desensitized in 2004.

Their eponymous album, recorded mostly at the New York studio for which the band was named, reached the Top 20 in the UK and the Top 10 in the US, and spawned two hit singles with " Some Like It Hot " ( UK No. 14, US # 6 ) and a cover of the T. Rex song " Get It On ( Bang a Gong )" ( UK No. 22, US # 9 ).

He then guested on the album Fairy Tales by Williamson and Gilli Smyth's project Mother Gong, and out of this he, Mo Vicarage and Ermanno Ghisio-Erba ( a. k. a. Dino Ferari ) formed Inner City Unit ( ICU ) with Trev Thoms and Dead Fred.

In 1977 Daevid Allen and Gilli Smyth recruited the band to tour with them under the name Planet Gong, and this combination released a live album Floating Anarchy 1977 and a single " Opium for the People ".

Dimension 5 described their music as " space techno psychedelic trance " around the time of their debut album and cited Hawkwind, Gong, Tim Blake and Tangerine Dream as some of their major influences.

Time is the Key is an album by Pierre Moerlen's Gong, issued in 1979.

The album is jazz-fusion and has little to do with the psychedelic space rock of Daevid Allen's Gong, even though the bands share a common history.
