* June 24 – Gurumayi Chidvilasananda, Indian head of Siddha Yoga

The leader of Siddha Yoga is Gurumayi Chidvilasananda.

In May 1982, Swami Muktananda installed Ms. Shetty ( now known as Gurumayi Chidvilasananda or Gurumayi ) and her brother Subhash Shetty ( now known as Mahamandaleshwar Nityananda ) as co-Gurus and spiritual leaders of Siddha Yoga.

Swami Chidvilasananda continued in her appointed role and has been the sole spiritual leader of Siddha Yoga since then.

Other texts referred to by Swamis Muktananda and Chidvilasananda include Jnaneshwari, the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, the Bhakti Sutras of Narada, the Mahabharata, the Ramayana, and poet saints such as Kabir and Tukaram Maharaj.

Swami Chidvilasananda has expanded the philanthropic work initiated by Swami Muktananda.

They also celebrate the birthdays of Swami Muktananda and Swami Chidvilasananda ; Swami Muktananda's divya diksha day ( the day he received initiation ); and the mahasamadhi anniversaries of Swami Muktananda and Bhagawan Nityananda.

The Muslims prefixed the word peer to it in memory of Siddha Faqir and the name thereafter is said to have changed into Peer Panjal.

Ayurveda is in Sanskrit, but Sanskrit was not generally used as a mother tongue and hence its medines are mostly taken from Siddha and other local traditions.

In this way Siddhars developed, among other branches of a vast knowledge-system, what is now known as Siddha medicine, practised mainly in Tamil Nadu as Traditional native medicine.

A rustic form of healing that is similar to Siddha medicine has since been practised by experienced elderly in the villages of Tamil Nadu.

One of the best-known Siddhars was Agasthyar or Agasthya, who is believed to be the founding father of Siddha culture.

Siddha is a level of soul above Arihant who possess kevala jñana.

Whenever siddha is mentioned the 84 siddhas and 9 nathas are remembered and it is this tradition of siddha which is known as the Siddha Sampradaya.

Siddha is a term used for both mahasiddhas and nathas.
