His first jobs in the industry included guest appearances in various Scooby-Doo cartoons as well as in the series Super Friends, in which he played Hawkman, he also voiced Governor Wetworth on The Snorks, The Flash and Samurai.

The Zero Hour mini-series muddied the waters further by merging the different Hawkmen into a " Hawkgod ", who was the focus character in the third volume of the monthly Hawkman series.

* During the chronal disruptions of Zero Hour, multiple versions of Hawkman ( and Hawkgirl / Hawkwoman ) from alternate timelines were appearing in and out of existence.

At the time, Hawkman had been declared off-limits by DC editorial due to the character's convoluted continuity ( complicated by retcons from the Hawkworld limited series ), which DC tried to negate during Zero Hour.

Midway City was the setting in the 1967 Filmation Hawkman shorts of The Superman / Aquaman Hour of Adventure.

With issue # 244 ( April – May 1977 ), World's Finest Comics became one of the first 80 page Dollar Comics which featured the World's Finest Team with back-up features such as Green Arrow, Black Canary, Wonder Woman, Vigilante, the Creeper, Shazam !, Black Lightning, Hawkman, Red Tornado, Zatanna and Plastic Man.
