* German metal band Helloween covered " Rain " for their single " Power ".

The tour is notable for Kai Hansen stepping on stage with his former band fellows Weikath and Grosskopf to perform hits " I Want Out " and " Future World " in the last encore segment of Helloween.

In mid-September 2012, Helloween announced the title of their upcoming fourteenth studio album, Straight Out of Hell.

The setlist contained songs drawn from all of their albums up to Majestic ( excluding Insanity and Genius ) and also a cover of the Helloween hit " I Want Out ".

Tensions within Helloween worsened, and the band split into three factions, with Michael Kiske and Ingo Schwichtenberg on one side, Michael Weikath and Roland Grapow on the other, and Markus Grosskopf in the middle, trying to keep peace between the four men.

Helloween returned in 1994 with former Pink Cream 69 frontman Andi Deris as its new lead vocalist and Uli Kusch, formerly of Kai Hansen's Gamma Ray, on drums.

The subsequent supporting tour was made up of stops in Europe, Japan, and Brazil, but on December 20, 1998, the band visited New York and played a show at the venue Coney Island High in Manhattan, the first show for Helloween in the United States in nearly a decade.

One version of events states that Weikath, Deris and Grosskopf felt that Kusch and Grapow, in particular, were spending more time on and paying more attention to their new side-project, Masterplan ( Grapow's output on Helloween albums had dropped to barely one song per album by that point ); since the others believed that Kusch and Grapow were not 100 % dedicated to Helloween they were dismissed.

2005 saw yet another line-up change, following the " Rabbits on the Run " tour, as it became apparent that Helloween and Stefan Schwarzmann did not share the same musical vision.

Helloween has since completed their studio album Gambling with the Devil, which was released on October 23, 2007.

Helloween released their thirteenth studio album, 7 Sinners, on October 31 in Europe and November 3 in the US.

In June 2012, Helloween entered the studio to begin recording their fifteenth album, which will be released on January 18, 2013.

Helloween, followed by early Gamma Ray, mixed fast palm muted speed metal riffs with high-pitched clean vocals, and with a strong focus on melody and uplifting, positive themes.

These two German bands had close ties, and Helloween founder Kai Hansen made a guest appearance on Blind Guardian's second LP, Follow the Blind ( 1989 ), where the band revealed some thrash metal influence.

* As opposed to the more benign-looking pumpkin used on previous albums, a sinister-looking pumpkin is used to represent the " o " in the " Helloween " logo.

During these recording sessions, the band recorded their cover of " Halloween ", which was included on the CD The Keepers of Jericho part I-A Tribute to Helloween ( Arise Records ).

After this tour it was announced via Michael Kiske's official website that Kai would join his new band Unisonic, as they " instantly felt the magic of Helloween years again and had a lot of fun together on and off

Kai Hansen and Henjo Richter also participated in Tobias Sammet's project Avantasia, on both The Metal Opera and The Metal Opera Part II, along with various other musicians including Hansen's former bandmates from Helloween, Markus Grosskopf and Michael Kiske.

Vocalist ZP Theart has no qualms about emulating heroes like Bruce Dickinson ( Iron Maiden ) and Michael Kiske ( Helloween ), but his lupine howls have a character all their own ... Valley of the Damned may not be groundbreaking or cathartic, and lyrics like " In the land of desire with your heart filled with fire you live for the right to be free / We will sail on forever more to the land of the evening star " may cross the line into heavy metal parody, but it's undeniably entertaining, expertly played, and endlessly fun.

In 1999 the band Helloween released a cover of " Space Oddity " on their album Metal Jukebox.

During 1995, Kiske participated as a guest on Gamma Ray's ( Kai Hansen's band, formed after his departure from Helloween in late 1988 ) Land of the Free album, singing lead vocals on the song " Time To Break Free " and additional vocals on the title track.

With their new lead vocalist in tow, Helloween approached record labels Noise International and RCA and proposed the release of a double-LP to introduce the new line-up.

In late 2006, Helloween filmed and recorded shows in São Paulo ( Brazil ), Sofia ( Bulgaria ) and Tokyo ( Japan ), for their live album Keeper of the Seven Keys – The Legacy World Tour 2005 / 2006.

Helloween teamed up with Kai Hansen's current band Gamma Ray for their 2007 / 2008 " Hellish Rock " world tour, which started in early November 2007.

They released their debut album Battalions of Fear in 1988, which was essentially a speed metal album heavily influenced by Helloween.

They were, together with German bands Helloween, Gamma Ray, Grave Digger, Running Wild, and Rage, the pioneers in German power metal, taking their influences mainly from Helloween as well as from Judas Priest.

Hansen claimed that Helloween had become too big for him to handle, although the group's troubles with financial issues and their record company, Noise Records, most likely played a part as well.

In contrast to their previous albums, Hellfire Club owes more to the sound of Iron Maiden than their biggest influence Helloween, both in vocals and in music.

Roland Grapow, present in the band since 1989, and Uli Kusch from 1994, decided to form a side project and shortly after this decision, both were fired from their long-time job in Helloween.

He is also rumoured to have offered his services to Hansen's former band Helloween for their album Rabbit Don't Come Easy following the departure of their guitarist Roland Grapow.

Legal disputes with their record company, prevented Helloween from releasing new material until 1991's Pink Bubbles Go Ape, which was followed by 1993's Chameleon.

In 1988, Helloween released Keeper of the Seven Keys Part II, the companion album.

In May 2008, Kiske released Past In Different Ways ; an album featuring most of his old Helloween songs, albeit rearranged and re-recorded acoustically.

With this new lineup and a new record contract with Castle Communications, Helloween released its comeback album, Master of the Rings.

Despite a somewhat tepid response to the album, Helloween nonetheless completed a successful world tour, highlighted by the return of classic songs such as " Starlight ", " Murderer ", " Keeper of the Seven Keys " and " How Many Tears " to the setlist.

This is the second Helloween live album to feature Andi Deris as frontman, and third overall.

On December 26, 2009, Helloween released the Unarmed – Best of 25th Anniversary album in Japan.
