Henny initially refused, feeling that Doe Maar wasn't the right move in anybody's career ; but he got second thoughts and decided to join the band after all.

Henny would later say that applegate " made us realise that we couldn't go on like this ".

Brood continued to record throughout the 1980s and had a few hits — a top-ten single, " Als Je Wint " with Henny Vrienten, and a minor hit with a reggae song, " Tattoo Song ," but he spent more and more time on his art work.

Henny came right on time to contribute the remaining three tracks ( and the ska -/ reggae-influences ) to the second album ; 32 Jaar ( about a lovestruck, shaky-legged 32-year-old ), Smoorverliefd ( Smitten ) and De Laatste Keer ( The Last Time ), a song about breaking up and starting over ( Henny had recently split with his wife and stepsons ).

Joost Belinfante regularly joined them on trombone and small percussion, and previewed tracks off his 1982-released solo-album Fante ( produced by Henny ).

Henny, who got an apple in his face, responded by saying " If you keep this up then there'll be a real Nightnurse on hand.

Having already collaborated four years earlier, Henny entered 1997 by teaming up with Def P from pioneering Dutch-language rap group Osdorp Posse ( who sampled De Bom on one of their tracks ).

On October 31 Henny joined Pascal Jakobsen and the boys on stage ; the next day Doe Maar held held a press-conference at the National Pop Institution's HQ to announce a reunion for one more album ( to be released on V2 ) and three shows at the Ahoy Rotterdam.

In February 2000 two singles were issued on the same day ; Als Niet Als by Henny in with a rap from Antwerp-born Dutchman Brainpower, and Ernst's anti-violence track Watje which sees the good man supplying a ragga-style rap halfway.

The tour was a hit with both fans and critics, and everything went well till June 26 when Henny was rushed to hospital with meningitis of the bone (); the show was rescheduled to July 5 while Henny finished the tour on painkillers.

In the summer of 1964, the couple moved to West Berlin where Gudrun would began her thesis on Hans Henny Jahnn at the Free University.

He made a few recordings, most notably The Primitive Side of Henny Youngman, recorded " live " in St. Louis and released by National Recording Corporation on the NRC label.

The trademark Doe Maar-sound was spiced up with influences such as triphop ( courtesy of Henny whose late-1990s TV-scores sounded thus ).

Jan H. sings his one lead vocal in the UB 40-ish De Kater, it's ' Let's drink our worries away and deal with the consequences later '- theme was written by Henny.

Boudewijn de Groot's 2004-album Eiland in de Verte ( Distant Island ) features one song with Ernst, Henny and Jan H.

In between tours of Belgium and the Netherlands Antilles, Henny records his first Dutch-language solo-album, Geen Ballade which he releases in March 1984, a few weeks before Doe Maar play two farewell shows for live broadcast.

Rumours of a reunion for Veronica's annual Golden Oldie-festival appeared to be untrue ; instead Henny and the two Jans joined Ernst and Joost during the encore of CCC Inc .' s 25th anniversary concert at the Melkweg club in Amsterdam.

Soon afterwards old ghosts came back to haunt Henny ; the gossip press reported that he left his wife and kids to start over for the third time.

During his work with Boudewijn de Groot, Henny met keyboard-player Ernst Jansz en drummer Johnny Lodewijks ; the latter suggested to form a reggae-band.

In the mid-1990s a new generation of Dutch-language acts emerged ; Henny ended up collaborating with rap-group Osdorp Posse.

Ernst, Henny and Jan H. enjoyed the success, unlike René whose behaviour was seen as a problem.

The B-side, Nachtzuster ( Nightnurse, written by Henny ) was included in the TV-special and became a classic too.

Henny used free-range pigs as a metaphore for racial inequality ( Scharrelvarken, the first single ), was happy not to fit in, mocked vanity in two versions, and called all Dads traitors.

Henny was always the most reluctant member to do a Doe Maar-reunion, but his teenage sons managed to persuade him.

Henny was quoted " This is not a reunion, we're back together ".

This situation changed with the Orgeltagung ( Organ Meeting ) in Hamburg organised by Hans Henny Jahnn in 1925, which was a major stimulus for the Orgelbewegung ( Organ reform movement ), and the renewal of the front pipes of the Schnitger organ in the St. Jacobi Church by Karl Kemper from 1928 – 1930.

Henry " Henny " Youngman ( original Russian surname Yungman ) ( March 16, 1906 – February 24, 1998 ) was a British-American comedian and violinist famous for " one-liners ", short, simple jokes usually delivered rapid-fire.

In 1955 he was host of a TV series titled The Henny and Rocky Show, appearing with champion boxer Rocky Graziano.

Youngman's last movie appearance before his death was in the Daniel Robert Cohn film Eyes Beyond Seeing, in which he has a cameo as a mental patient claiming to be Henny Youngman.

While she was ill, Henny had an ICU built in their bedroom, so she could be taken care of at home, rather than in the hospital ( Sadie was terrified of hospitals ).

With the exception of a week following his wife's death, and the month he was in his final hospital stay, Henny was renowned for having worked almost every day for over 70 years without vacations or other breaks.
