In contemporary times, both King Juan Carlos of Spain and Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg are members of this family, both through the Bourbon branch of the dynasty.

The present sovereign is Grand Duke Henri.

Jean's eldest son, Prince Henri, was appointed " Lieutenant Représentant " ( Hereditary Grand Duke ) on 4 March 1998.

On 24 December 1999, Prime Minister Juncker announced Grand Duke Jean's decision to abdicate the throne on 7 October 2000, in favour of Prince Henri who assumed the title and constitutional duties of Grand Duke.

Since 1964 the Bourbon-Parma line has reigned agnatically in Luxembourg through Grand Dukes Jean and his son Henri.

Luxembourgish euro coins feature three different designs, though they all contain the portrait or effigy of Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg.

The Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg appears on the coins facing to the left.

His maternal grandparents were Victor Amadeus I of Savoy and Christine Marie of France, daughter of King Henri le Grand.

Through them are descended a number of European royalty, among them Queen Sofía of Spain, Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, King Albert II of Belgium, Hans-Adam II, Prince of Liechtenstein, and Henri, Grand Duke of Luxembourg.

The present Grand Duke of Luxembourg is Henri.

Her great-grandsons are King Harald V of Norway and King Albert II of Belgium ; her great-great-grandsons are King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden and Henri, Grand Duke of Luxembourg ; her great-great-granddaughter is Queen Margrethe II of Denmark.

Grand Duke Henri Albert Gabriel Félix Marie Guillaume of Luxembourg is the current Grand Duke of Luxembourg.

And through Princess Joséphine-Charlotte of Belgium, she is great-grandmother of a fourth one: Henri, Grand Duke of Luxembourg

Additionally the Grand Prix du Palais d ’ Hiver ( 400 à 650 kg ' Light car ' class ) was awarded to Henri Farman ( Darracq ); the second Grand Prix du Palais d ’ Hiver for the under 400 kg Voiturettesclass was awarded to Louis Renault ( Renault ); the Prix du Béarn was awarded to Osmont in a ' De Dion ' tricycle.

A change in the succession laws introduced equal primogeniture beginning with the descendants of Grand Duke Henri.

The current Grand Duke, Henri, bears the full style " His Royal Highness by the Grace of God, Grand Duke of Luxembourg, Duke of Nassau, Count Palatine of the Rhine, Count of Sayn, Königstein, Katzenelnbogen and Diez, Burgrave of Hammerstein, Lord of Mahlberg, Wiesbaden, Idstein, Merenberg, Limburg and Eppstein.

A contretemps occurred during the progress in mid-August when the Queen twice requested Oxford to dance before the French ambassadors, who were in England to negotiate a marriage between the 46 year old Elizabeth and the younger brother of Henri III of France, the 24 year old Duke of Anjou.

Charles IX passed through the city at the time of his royal tour of France between 1564 and 1566, accompanied by the Court and various noblemen: his brother the Duke of Anjou, Henri de Navarre, the cardinals of Bourbon and Lorraine.

In L ' Aiglon he chose a subject from Napoleonic history, suggested probably by Henri Welschinger's Roi de Rome, 1811-32 ( 1897 ), which contained much new information about the unhappy life of the Duke of Reichstadt, son of Napoleon I, and Marie Louise, under the surveillance of Metternich at the Schönbrunn Palace.

Following the advice of Fleury, Louis XV appointed his cousin, Louis Henri, Duke of Bourbon, to replace the late Duke of Orléans.

His first ministry was headed by Louis Henri, Duke of Bourbon, who was displaced by the king's tutor, Cardinal André de Fleury, in 1725, and on the latter's death in 1743, Louis assumed personal control of the government.

However, the Duke of Berry's widow, Caroline of Naples and Sicily, was found to be pregnant and on 29 September 1820 gave birth to a son, Henri, Duke of Bordeaux.

Henry I of Brabant ( French: Henri I de Brabant, Dutch: Hendrik I van Brabant ) ( 1165 – 5 September 1235 ), named " The Courageous " Duke of Brabant ( from 1183 ) and Duke of Lower Lotharingia ( from 1190 ) until his death.

The heir to the grand duke of Luxembourg may be titled prince-lieutenant (' prince deputy ') during a period in which the incumbent remains formally on the grand ducal throne, but ( progressively, most ) functions of the crown are performed by the ' monarch apprentice ', as prince Jean ( still alive ) did 4 May 1961-12 November 1964 in the last years of his mother Charlotte's reign ( she lived until 1985 ), and Jean's own son prince Henri 3 March 1998-7 October 2000 until his father abdicated and he succeeded.
