Henryk Sławik, born 16 July 1894 in Szeroka ( now a part of Jastrzębie-Zdrój, then in the Prussian zone of partitioned Poland ), was executed by Nazi Germans in Mauthausen-Gusen concentration camp on 26 August 1944.
Henryk Sławik was born into an impoverished Polish Silesian family as one of its 9 children.
It is estimated that Henryk Sławik helped as many as 30, 000 Polish refugees in Hungary, approximately 5, 000 of them Jews.
