Horatio Earle, known as the " Father of good roads " had proposed the government create an Interstate highway system in 1902 and in 1909 built the World's first mile of concrete road on Woodward Avenue in Detroit.

The last name applied to M-53 is the Earle Memorial Highway, named in honor of Horatio Earle, Michigan's first State Highway Commissioner.

The attention of Michigan residents was turned to the good-roads movement by Horatio S. Earle, the first state highway commission.

Forester is best known for his famous series of Horatio Hornblower novels which he began in 1937 ; few of his other works are well-known: The General ( 1936 ) and The African Queen ( 1935 ) are exceptions and remain popular.

Stretching eastward as far as the Rosetta mouth of the Nile is the spacious Abu Qir Bay ( Khalīj Abū Qīr ), where on 1 August 1798, Horatio Nelson fought the Battle of the Nile, often referred to as the " Battle of Aboukir Bay ".

Field Marshal Horatio Herbert Kitchener, 1st Earl Kitchener KG, KP, GCB, OM, GCSI, GCMG, GCIE, ADC, PC ( 24 June 1850 – 5 June 1916 ), was an Irish-born British Field Marshal and proconsul who won fame for his imperial campaigns and later played a central role in the early part of the First World War, although he died halfway through it.
