The Mirsky Castle Complex (), is a UNESCO World Heritage site in Belarus located in the town of Mir in the Karelichy District of the Hrodna voblast, at, 29 km to the north-west from another World Heritage site, Nesvizh Castle.

When the seat of the Parliament was moved to Warsaw, the town became the seat of the highest court of Poland, the Royal Tribunal, and trials were held there from 1578 – 1793 ; the highest Lithuanian court was held in Hrodna ( Grodno ).

Ashmyany (, Łacinka: Ašmiany, ;,, ) is a town in Hrodna voblast, Belarus, capital of the Ašmiany raion located 25 km from Vilnius.

Svislach (, pronounced ;,, ) is a town in the South-West of Hrodna voblast, Belarus, an administrative center of the Svislach district.

Iwye ( ; Iv ' ye ; ; Eyvye ) is a town and former shtetl in Belarus in the Hrodna Province, 158 km east of Hrodna.

Karelichy (; ; ;, Korelitz ) is a town in Hrodna Province, Belarus, a raion center.

The Yotvingian territories of Sudovia and Galindia were later overrun and populated by Slavs around present-day Białystok and Suwałki in north-eastern Poland and nearby Hrodna ( formerly Grodno ) in Belarus.

Being the part of extended East Prussia Hrodna was renamed by Germans to Garten ( meaning " garden ") in 1942.

It is bordered on the north by Pskov Oblast of Russia, by Smolensk Oblast of Russia on the east, on the south by Minsk and Mahilyow Voblasts, on the southwest by Minsk and Hrodna Voblasts, and on the west and northwest by Vilnius County and Utena County of Lithuania and Daugavpils District of and Latvia.

Main cities that were recognised by Soviets as a part of Lithuania by the 1920 treaty but were not added to Lithuanian SSR include Hrodna ( Gardinas ), Lida ( Lyda ), Smarhon ( Smurgainys ), Pastavy ( Pastovys ), Ašmiany ( Ašmena ), Brasłaŭ ( Breslauja ), Suwałki ( Suvalkai ).

Erdvilas established his capital in Navahradak, founded Hrodna, and helped to rebuilt other cities plundered by the Tatars.

German volunteers led by Rüdiger von der Goltz arrived in Lithuania, took up positions along the Hrodna – Kaišiadorys – Kaunas line, and helped the Lithuanian forces, commanded by Jonas Variakojis, to stop the Red Army advance near Kėdainiai.
